Early 2024 NFL Draft Preview Live Odds and Best Bets

Before the NFL combine, we give a preview of some of the top talents in the 2024 draft class. While Caleb Williams is the clear favorite to be selected 1st overall, watch for Jayden Daniels and Dallas Turner as risers that could give Williams a run for his money.

1st Overall Pick

Since 2019, we have gone four of five drafts with a Quarterback’s name being called first by the Commissioner on draft night. 2024 should be no different. The favorite since the early parts of last season has been USC’s Caleb Williams.

However, Heisman winner from LSU Jayden Daniels and UNC standout Drake Maye have inched closer after USC’s subpar 2023 campaign. Check out some of the odds below.

The Favorite: Caleb Williams (-1500)

Barring a botched combine in Indy, Caleb Williams will end up as the top pick. However, it is to be determined if he ends up in a Chicago Bears uniform or anything outside of the navy and orange.

Williams failed to replicate his sophomore season statistics at So Cal, but still showed his capability of making those “Mahomes-like” plays out of nothing and putting a team on his back for a win. His sky-high potential combined with elite play since taking the field for Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma has guaranteed him the 1st overall selection.

However, standing at just 6’1, there is some doubt surrounding the USC star who lost four of his last five collegiate games.

The Underdog: Jayden Daniels (+2500)

The biggest riser from the 2023 season comes in as our top underdog to steal this top spot away from Williams and Drake Maye. The best rusher and athlete out of the bunch, all Daniels needs is an outstanding combine and Caleb Williams slip-up to inch closer to this top spot.

Think of Kyler Murray’s 2019 rise to become the Cardinals’ first overall selection. This could be a similar story, especially if he shocks us with a 40-yard-dash time that we haven’t seen from a QB.

A big-time playmaker using both his legs and arm, Jayden cut down his turnovers this season while earning the top grade from PFF out of all Quarterbacks this season. There are only three QBs all time with a better grade than Daniels including LSU alum Joe Burrow. Pretty good company.

First Non-QB Selected

With multiple teams in the top 10 desperately needing a WR1 on their squad, look for wideouts to fly off the board starting inside the top 10, where the Patriots and Cardinals could both use help at this spot.

Our Pick: Marvin Harrison Jr. (-450)

Harrison is the best player on the board at the moment. The 6’3 wideout will follow in the footsteps of Buckeye wideouts coming into the league ready to make an impact. From Garrett Wilson, to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, to Chris Olave, Harrison might end up as the best talent out of this bunch.

In 25 games over the last two seasons, he’s scored 28 touchdowns on top of nearly 2,500 yards of receiving. His size, speed, and route running alongside red zone dominance is why he’ll easily be selected inside the top five.

With Arizona losing out on Hopkins last season and the Hollywood Brown experiment nearing an end, look for them to swing on MHJ to pair with Kyler.

Defensive Riser

After examining the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl, watch for a few defensive ends to rise up draft boards as the position should make a bounce back in this year’s draft.

After just one DE went in the top 10 in 2023, here’s a name to keep on your radar as a player who will go inside the top 10 even if he’s projected outside at the moment.

Top 10 Pick: Dallas Turner

With elite first-step explosiveness, a 6’4, 250-pound frame, and the Alabama genes, there isn’t a reason Dallas Turner should fall outside of the top 10 in this draft class.

After watching how Nick Bosa, Chase Young, Aidan Hutchinson, and other defensive ends made an impact this postseason, look for needy teams such as Washington, Tennessee, and Tampa Bay to swing on Turner.

Dallas had 10 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss in his junior season at Bama. These are top 10 numbers in a top three collegiate system that continues to pump out defensive superstars.
