US Daily Fantasy Industry
The DFS industry continues to grow exponentially in the United States. According to the Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association, over 59 million people in the US and Canada compete in fantasy sports every year. That represents nearly 25% of the adult population between the two countries!
Daily Fantasy leaders FanDuel and DraftKings currently own a 90%+ market share, but that has not stopped new sites and products from entering the market. We saw Monkey Knife Fight make a splash in 2019 with their prop-style fantasy games. 2020 saw a rise in popularity for Underdog's season-long best ball fantasy format and they already have a $3.5 million contest in their lobby for 2021.
Daily Fantasy Sports is currently legal in 44 US states with Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Hawaii being the only states that currently do not allow DFS. However, both FanDuel and DraftKings offer free fantasy games for residents of those states, which means everyone can get in on the DFS action in 20222.
Prop betting has exploded in popularity in states that offer legal sports betting, but you can legally bet on props from anywhere at several of the operators listed on this page. Our favorite overall app for iOS users is Lucra Fantasy, which offers a social betting product that completely eliminates the house. If you are looking to take on the house, or are an Android user, Underdog Fantasy not only offers player prop pick'em contests but has the industry top best ball product.
