There are plenty of reasons for sports bettors to love the BetRivers sportsbooks and just as many causes for concern. Here is a quick look at our current list of pros and cons for potential BetRivers customers. We provide a more detailed analysis further into this review.
Some of the core reasons bettors love BetRivers are low juice, great promotions, and industry-leading customer support. BetRivers already offers legal online sports betting in seven US states. Opening and funding a new account is arguably the easiest in the industry. Customer support is available through live chat from 9:30 am through 2:30 am.
The variety of odds at BetRivers is also a major plus. BetRivers utilizes Kambi, an odds provider that also services DraftKings, Penn, and Parx. This means more lines on more games for their customers.
The feel of both the desktop and mobile sportsbook is outdated. Both the website and app feel congested, and the constantly scrolling wheel of winners on the website has a 1999 online casino feel to it. Beyond just the issues with UX, the site can be laggy and has been reported to have outages during peak usage hours.
The other major issue with BetRivers hit players where it matters most, their bankroll. Using Kambi results in juice levels that simply can't compete with the likes of PointsBet and BetMGM. Furthermore, their current new player promotion is less than half the average bonus offer in the US sports betting market.
As was the case with DraftKings, we feel obligate to clarify this rating is not a reflection of the variety of sports and odds at BetRivers. Most US sports bettors will find every bet they are looking for on the BetRivers sportsbook. The issue is once you find that bet and it cashes, you win less money than you would at some competing sportsbooks.
To confirm this we reviewed the odds for 50 different sporting events and compared them with each of our sportsbook partners. BetRivers juice was significantly higher across the majority of those bets. Every major US sportsbook offers the same bets and the same bet types, so juice is one of the few ways we can differentiate one book from another.
As was the case with our odds and juice review, the site and app have both good and bad qualities we have to mention. Both are extremely easy to use, this includes everything from creating an account to placing a bet to withdrawing winnings.
The issue with both the website and app is that the overall user experience. There are issues with lagging, reports of downtime, and a lack of spacing on both platforms. The newsfeed on the right-hand side of the sportsbook can't be hidden on desktops which is a must-fix UX issue in our opinion.
As we mentioned earlier, BetRivers promotions rarely can compete with its top competitors. The current $250 deposit bonus is half the deposit bonus PointsBet currently offers. Furthermore, they have not offered a risk-free bet or free bet promotion since early 2020.
That being said, promotions change constantly throughout the year and there is more to consider than just the size of the bonus. For instance, BetRivers has a 2x rollover requirement on bonus funds while DraftKings has a 25x requirement. New players should always compare the top US sportsbook promotions before opening a new account.
As far as support is concerned, BetRivers is better than most US sportsbooks at the moment. The typical online sportsbook currently offers support by email only, and a handful offer chat support. Luckily for BetRivers customers, they are one of the few books that do offer live chat support.
Live chat support is available from 9:30 am to 2:30 am seven days a week. While not quite 24/7, we doubt there are many customers looking for support after 2:30 AM or before 9:30 AM. Even if betting on European soccer, 9:30 AM gives you plenty of time to get answers to your questions. BetRivers does not offer phone support at the moment.
