Top College Basketball Player Props for Thursday, March 7: Will Washington Slow Down Myles Rice?

Our college basketball player props got back to their winning ways with a 2-1 performance last night. Tristen Newton of UConn cashed a nice plus money winner for us by staying Under 7.5 rebounds against Marquette. Xavier's Quincy Olivari also easily stayed Under his point total to ensure a winning evening for the EWB crew.

Our lone loser was on Dalton Knecht of Tennessee, who started out slow but ended up shooting the lights out against South Carolina. Myles Rice (Wash St) Under 4.5 Assists (-110) (DraftKings)

We haven't played an assists prop in quite a while, but figured this was a good spot to take a shot with one. In case you haven't noticed, we're big fans of finding Unders in rivalry games. The added intensity often leads to some extra anxiety from the players and a lot more bricks than normal.

Rice has put together a solid season for the Coogs, but his median assist total is just 3 this season. That's 50% less than the current 4.5 line that's being offered up at DraftKings. Sure, Washington's defense stinks, but is that really worthy of a 50% increase in Rice's assist total?

Some of the season metrics also favor the Under. Rice has dished out 4 assists or fewer in 19 of his 30 ball games. The 6'2", 175-pound guard has also stayed under this total in 5 out of his last 7 outings. The Under is also 9-7 in Rice's 16 home games this year. Don't overthink this one! Smack the Under!

Maxime Raynaud (Stanford) Under 17.5 Points (-120) (Bet365)

Oh yes, let's go back to our favorite Frenchman for another Under in some PAC12 after dark action. We easily cashed an Under last week on Raynaud and see no reason to get off that train tonight against Cal. The Paris native has a nice skillset, but his median point total is just 14 this season.

Faithful readers of the column know that we're all about the median when it comes to breaking down player props. In this case, the 3.5-point difference between the posted line and the median gives us an implied edge of 20% on the Under. However, even with that implied edge, please stick to the disciplined money management principles that we preach about all the time around these parts.

What else is there to like about this play? In 18 of Raynaud's 29 games for the Cardinal, he's scored 17 points or fewer. The 7'1" center has also stayed Under this line in 3 of his last 5.

The matchup against Cal is also in our favor. Raynaud only scored 11 points against Cal back on January 26. Fardaws Aimaq, the center for the Golden Bears, is a pretty good defender down low on the block. Look for Aimaq to once again keep Raynaud under wraps.
