Ravens at Commanders 2 Best Bets for Monday Night Football

The NFL Preseason concludes with Monday Night Football on August 21 with the Ravens taking on the Commanders. Will Baltimore continue their insane preseason winning streak? Or will Washington snap the streak at 24 games?

As you might imagine, the Ravens are favored in this contest. This is mainly because of the winning streak and the tight backup QB battle. If you want some action on this matchup, check out our 2 best bets right here.

Best Bet: Ravens -3.5

The Ravens are fresh off a victory over their bird foes from the northeast, the Philadelphia Eagles. The trio of dual threat QBs; Tyler Huntley, Josh Johnson, and Anthony Brown combined for 28 yards on the ground to go with just 139 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Anthony Brown was terrible in his limited time as he scored a 6.3 QBR and threw a pick 6 in the 4th quarter that blew the Ravens chances at covering. Running back Justice Hill broke the longest run of the game when he scampered for 37 yards and finished with 48 on just 3 carries.

Newly acquired Melvin Gordon only added 16 yards on his 6 carries. It was the defense that shined for the Ravens in this matchup.

They held Ian Book, Marcus Mariota, and Tanner McKee to under 200 yards passing and did not allow a touchdown pass while sacking each QB at least once. The 8 of 18 the Eagles went on 3rd down was a credit to the tough defense being played by the Ravens.

The Commanders also won their opener last week. Their 17-15 win over the Browns was one of the lowest scoring games of the week and looked precisely what it was, a preseason game.

2nd year QB, Sam Howell led the Commanders in passing with 77 yards and a touchdown pass to Jahan Dotson who looked sharp in his return to action. However, both Jacoby Brissett and Jake Fromm struggled in their time under center. Combining for just 11-18 and 100 yards to go with 2 interceptions.

Luckily for them, the defense picked up a goal line stand and an interception in the redzone to keep the Browns offense at bay. However, the Browns were able to successfully move the ball for most of the game.

Best Bet: Over 38.5

The Commanders were lucky to have gotten their win last week while the Ravens should have won by a larger margin. We expect Brissett to make more of his time under center for the Commanders which will result in the total going over.

This will also be the 2nd game of live action for a group of Ravens QBs that all fit the system well and should be able to have a better understanding now that they have seen some real live action.
