3 MLB Best Bets for Thursday, August 24

We lost our MLB best bet last night, which means we're piping mad and ready to attack today's card. The Washington Nationals reminded us that they are still the Washington Nationals. They made a struggling Luis Severino look like Doc Gooden in his prime.

Time to shake it off and move on. Here are 3 MLB Best Bets for Thursday, August 24. Good luck with all of your bets and enjoy the daytime baseball.

Best Bet: Rays F5 -0.5 (-140)

This Rays offense has finally come back to life again, as they've scored at least six runs in six straight ball games. Both Yandy Diaz and Brandon Lowe are hitting the ball much better lately. Tampa Bay is averaging 7 1/2 runs per nine innings over their last 10 ball games.

Peter Lambert has pitched brilliantly in his last two starts, but I think this Tampa Bay offense can get to him early on. He had a great performance against the White Sox last week, but we all know what a dumpster fire that team is.

The Rays will send Shawn Armstrong to the hill in what will be a bullpen game for them. I normally avoid bullpen games, but the Rays reliever ERA is just 2.66 over their last five outings. Let's play Tampa Bay on the run line in the first five.

Best Bet: Over 8.5 (-110)

Let's stay with the same game and jump on the over! I'm not a big totals guy but I just can't resist this one. Both of these offenses have been on a major roll lately. Colorado has gone over in seven straight games while Tampa has gone over in 5 straight.

Want another trend that supports the over? Both teams are 8-2 to the over in their last 10 games. Also, Colorado's bullpen has been atrocious lately. Rockies relievers have an era of 9.38 over their last ten outings.

I could easily see the Rays getting 6 or 7 runs in this one and the Rockies shouldn't have any trouble getting at least three. Let's play the over and cheer for some runs in this daytime tilt.

Best Bet: Orioles (-104)

I found this at +100 at Fanatics if you have that option. I know it sounds crazy, but I think the Orioles are one of the best teams in the American League, even with their subpar starting pitching. Their elite bullpen and tough lineup make them a formidable foe against any team.

Sure, Toronto has the starting pitcher edge in this one with Jose Berrios on the hill. He has been dominant against Baltimore in his career, but I like the edge the Orioles have on offense. They just got Anthony Santander back and he clubbed two homers last night.

I also think the Orioles bullpen is just a tiny bit better than the Jays. Opponents are only hitting .162 against Baltimore relievers over the last five games. Give me the Birds at a price that's too cheap!
