2 MLB Best Bets for Monday, July 3

We stumbled to a tough 1-3 mark last Friday with our baseball selections. The Orioles, Blue Jays, and Tigers all let us down in grand fashion. Our lone winner was on the Dodgers. Last week was a rough one, but we're still 79-64 on the year and will look to right the ship.

Let's get right with 2 MLB Best Bets for Monday, July 3. Good luck and Happy 4th of July to you and your families.

We typically like to fade pitchers when they're coming off a no-hitter or a perfect game, but we're making an exception with Domingo German tonight. His curveball was flat-out devastating against the A's and it was a big reason why he was able to throw just the 24th perfect game in MLB history. Baltimore's bats have been cold as ice lately, and they're likely to struggle against German.

German also has a great career history against Baltimore, as he's 6-1 with a nice 2.40 ERA against the O's. Baltimore starter Tyler Wells hasn't fared too well when pitching against the Yankees, as he's 0-4 with a 5.26 ERA against the boys in pinstripes. Gleyber Torres, Giancarlo Stanton, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa have all homered off of Wells in their careers, with Torres going deep twice.

The Yanks also have a nice advantage in the bullpen department. New York relievers have a combined ERA of 2.87 and a batting average against of .211. Baltimore's bullpen ERA is 3.66 and has a batting average against of .239. We'll jump on the Yanks as a small dog here.

Best Bet: Braves (-147)

The Braves have been on a major roll, and we don't see them slowing down on this road trip to Cleveland. Atlanta has won 8 in a row and 23 out of their last 26 ball games! The Bravos bats continue to dominate, as they lead the majors in OPS and home runs. Ronald Acuna Jr. continues to terrorize opposing pitchers, as he has 21 homers and 39 stolen bases so far this season.

Cleveland is a solid ballclub, but outside of Jose Ramirez, they really don't have any hitters that scare anyone. The Guardians rank 26th in OPS and dead last in homers, so Atlanta starter Bryce Elder shouldn't have any trouble getting outs. Elder is 6-1 with a 2.44 ERA and was recently named to the All Star team.

The Guardians will send their best young arm to the mound in Gavin Williams. This kid has a very good fastball, but it won't matter against this red-hot Braves lineup. Just look at how rudely they treated Eury Perez and his 100-mph fastball on Saturday! Let's go Braves!
