2 MLB Best Bets for Friday, August 18

After a nice 2-1 finish yesterday, we're sitting pretty at 121-90 on the year. The Mets cruised past an aging Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals. The D'Backs F5 cashed for us as well behind a strong outing from Zac Gallen.

Our only loser was on the Mariners F5 run line, which was frustrating because they ended up winning the game. Here are 2 MLB Best Bets for Friday, August 18. Good luck this weekend, fellow sports investors.

Best Bet: Braves -1.5 (-104)

I don't typically get excited about laying a full game run line, but my goodness this Braves offense makes this seem like a bargain. The Braves just swept away the Yankees and they made it look super easy in the process. I'm expecting more of the same offensive firepower tonight from Atlanta, especially since they finally got a day off yesterday.

The Giants are a solid ballclub, but they're not in the same league as the Braves. San Fran has won just 3 of their last 10 and things won't be easy for them against Spencer Strider tonight.

The young righty has struck out 217 hitters this season, which is the most in the big leagues. He's also tied for the major league lead for wins with 13! Let's lay the big wood with the Bravos!

Best Bet: Rockies F5 (-115)

Talk about a battle of 2 bad teams! The White Sox have been a major disappointment this year and the Rockies are in full rebuild mode. Nevertheless, my numbers show a fair amount of value with Colorado tonight.

The Rockies have only won 2 of 10 but they've been swinging the bats pretty well lately. They just came off a 3-game set with the D'Backs where they scored 18 runs. Nolan Jones has been in a good groove at the plate, as he's smacked 12 homers since being called back up to the bigs in May.

As far as the starters go, I actually rate Peter Lambert a shade higher than Michael Kopech. Kopech walks way too many hitters, as evidenced by his BB rate of 14.5%. You can't do that at Coors Field and get away with it. I can't stand Colorado's bullpen, so we'll play the First 5.
