Dallas Wings vs. Seattle Storm Prediction: Wings Look to Close Regular Season Strong at Climate Pledge Arena

The Dallas Wings close out their regular-season road trip Wednesday night with a trip to Climate Pledge Arena to face a Seattle Storm team that has nothing left to play for. Dallas enters at 26-17 and sitting fourth in the Western Conference, having already clinched a playoff berth, while Seattle limps in at 8-35, dead last in the West and officially eliminated from postseason contention weeks ago. Tip-off is set for 10:00 PM ET.

Dallas dropped its last outing, an 86-87 heartbreaker at Phoenix on Monday, snapping a mini run of good form and leaving the Wings at 7-3 over their last 10 games. Seattle, meanwhile, has lost four straight and 8 of its last 10, a stretch that includes a 114-77 blowout loss to Las Vegas and a 98-77 defeat in that same building just three days ago. This is a game between a team jockeying for playoff seeding and a team playing out the string, and the gap in stakes shows up clearly in the number on the board.

What the Betting Market Is Saying

Sportsbooks have made Dallas a heavy favorite here, with lines mostly clustered around Wings -9 to -9.5 on the spread and shorter numbers like -10.5 available at some shops. The moneyline reflects just how lopsided this is expected to be — Dallas is priced anywhere from -430 to -550 depending on the book, while Seattle sits in the +340 to +440 range. The total has settled around 173.5, with a slight lean toward the under after both teams have trended toward lower-scoring, defensively sloppy performances of late.

The market’s confidence in Dallas isn’t just about record — it’s about roster health. Seattle has been gutted by injuries down the stretch, and bettors are pricing in a talent gap that’s as wide as any matchup left on the WNBA calendar this season. Bettors newer to basketball markets can lean on our NBA betting guide for the same core principles that apply here — spotting when a spread has priced in a real talent gap versus when the public is simply overreacting to a lopsided record.

Injuries Have Gutted Seattle’s Rotation

The Storm’s season fell apart in large part because of attrition. Ezi Magbegor tore her ACL during the FIBA World Cup break and hasn’t played a minute in Seattle’s colors since. Katie Lou Samuelson underwent season-ending left knee surgery earlier this month. Aneesah Morrow is done for the year with a knee injury, and Marina Mabrey has been ruled out for the final four games of the season with a hip issue. Add in Taina Mair and Zia Cooke both sidelined, and Seattle head coach has been forced to lean on a rotation that barely resembles the one the Storm opened the season with. The result has been predictable: Seattle is averaging just 82.0 points per game while surrendering 88.6, numbers that put them near the bottom of the league in both categories.

Dallas isn’t at full strength either. Alysha Clark suffered a facial injury in Monday’s loss to Phoenix and didn’t return, Alanna Smith remains out with a lower-leg injury with no firm return timetable, and Azzi Fudd is done for the season after knee surgery. Guard Costanza Verona’s contract was also temporarily suspended by the club back in August. Still, Dallas has enough top-end talent to overcome those absences in a way Seattle simply can’t right now.

Bueckers and Ogunbowale Carry the Load Despite Limited Minutes

Paige Bueckers has been terrific in September even as the Wings manage her workload down the stretch. She dropped 30 points on 12-of-22 shooting with seven assists and five rebounds in Monday’s loss at Phoenix, following a 26-point, five-assist outing two days earlier. Arike Ogunbowale, despite being on a minutes restriction for the remainder of the regular season, still poured in 22 points on Saturday against the Mercury. Guard Aziaha James has quietly been a difference-maker in a different way — she racked up five steals in Saturday’s win over Phoenix, a reminder that Dallas has multiple ways to hurt an opponent even when the two leading scorers aren’t playing full minutes.

On the other side, Seattle’s offense runs through rookie forward Dominique Malonga, who leads the team at 16.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, with Sonia Citron Hiedeman chipping in as the primary facilitator at 4.8 assists per contest. It’s a young, thin roster trying to find its footing against a Dallas team that ranks fifth in the league in offensive efficiency at 109.0 points per 100 possessions. Seattle’s defense, already stretched by injuries, has allowed at least 87 points in three of its last four games, and there’s little reason to expect that trend to reverse against a Wings attack that’s shooting 34.4 percent from three as a team.

Prediction and Best Bet

Dallas has the healthier roster, the better recent form relative to stakes, and a clear motivational edge as it jockeys for playoff seeding heading into October. Seattle has shown some fight in specific stretches, evidenced by a couple of games decided by single digits earlier this month, but the injury list has simply worn the roster down too much to expect a full 40 minutes of competitive basketball. Expect Dallas to control this one from the opening tip and pull away in the second half behind Bueckers, Ogunbowale, and a deeper bench than Seattle can match.

  • Prediction: Dallas Wings 88, Seattle Storm 74
  • Best Bet: Dallas Wings -9.5

The double-digit gap in overall talent, combined with Seattle’s -4 streak and injury-riddled lineup, makes the Wings the safer side even at a heavy price, and the spread offers enough cushion to make it the most attractive way to back that talent gap.
