With Christmas just around the corner, the NFL is providing perhaps its best week of football as a gift for fans and bettors alike. Multiple matchups this week showcase the NFL’s best teams against each other while other matchups will determine who wins each team’s respective division.
Before the little ones start to unwrap their gifts, let’s tear into the NFL’s Week 16 best anytime TD player props. While bettors are in store for lots of goodies this week, here are the top five anytime TD player props savvy bettors will choose for NFL Week 16.
All season long, the Jaguars have relied on former first-round draft pick Travis Etienne Jr. to score. The third-year star has obliged, scoring 10 TDs on the year. And with QB Trevor Lawrence playing through injuries much of this season, Jacksonville will need the workhorse runner to continue carrying the load over the next three weeks.
Up next for Etienne and the Jaguars is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After holding RBs without a score all season, the Buccaneers have yielded six in their last five games to opponents. Expect Etienne to add to his total Sunday when two of the three Florida NFL franchises face off.
After splitting reps with fellow RB Dameon Pierce much of this season, Houston’s Devin Singletary has come into his own as of late. The fifth-year player has 711 rushing yards on 167 carries and three rushing TDs this season.
Squaring off against the Cleveland Browns presents an enticing matchup for Singletary and the Texans. Before shutting down Chicago’s rushing attack last week, the Browns had allowed a RB to score in five consecutive contests. Expect Singletary to start a new streak against Cleveland and score his fourth TD during Week 16.
After a slow start to his debut season, Detroit rookie TE Sam LaPorta has become a force for opposing NFL defenses. The former Iowa star has caught 71 passes for 758 yards and nine scores, including three last week as the Lions easily defeated the Denver Broncos.
This week’s matchup is against the Minnesota Vikings, a tough matchup for most TEs. Against the position, the Vikings have not allowed a TD to any opponents in six weeks, and only one score in the past nine weeks. Expect LaPorta to snap that streak and score at least once Sunday against Minnesota.
Miami’s De’Von Achane lit the NFL ablaze with his opening act. The rookie RB scored seven TDs in his first four games for the Dolphins, eclipsing the 100-yard rushing mark in three of those four games. While Achane – who has been dealing with a nagging toe injury – has slowed lately, Miami hasn’t needed the offensive star to easily win two of their past three games.
This week, the Dolphins will need Achane and fellow tailback Raheem Mostert as they face off against Dallas. Although the Cowboys have been stingy against the RB position all season, Dallas surrendered three scores in last week’s lopsided loss to Buffalo to halfbacks James Cook and Latavius Murray. Expect Achane to continue this skid for the Cowboys’ defense Sunday.
Yes, you’re right. Picking anyone on the New England Patriots squad to score in ANY week is a risky proposition. But this week’s opponent – the Denver Broncos – is no ordinary matchup. No team in the NFL has surrendered more scores to TEs than Denver as the Broncos have allowed opponents to connect on nine TDs through 14 games.
Patriots TE Hunter Henry has played in all 14 games for New England this season, and he currently leads the team in receptions (42) and targets (61) and receiving TDs (6). While New England would prefer to run, expect the Patriots to find Henry for at least one score this week to cover this successful player prop bet.
