It’s an NFC East battle this Sunday at 3 PM EST to figure out who will represent the conference in the Super Bowl. Rookie Jayden Daniels will look to become the first rookie quarterback to make a Super Bowl start, while veterans Terry McLaurin, Austin Ekeler, Zach Ertz, and Bobby Wagner will try to pull off the upset.
Philadelphia is looking to ride the Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts duo to the Super Bowl in what could go down as a Saquon Barkley legacy game. Barkley went for 348 total yards in two regular-season games against Washington - he will serve as the game-changer in this rivalry game.
Each Ertz makes a return to Philadelphia in what could go down as an all-time matchup between the two NFC East rivals. Ertz has been a consistent focal point for Kingsbury, Daniels, and this Commanders offense, hauling in five or more catches in three of their last four outings.
With Philly allowing seven catches to Tyler Higbee and five catches to Tucker Kraft during their two postseason games, I’d even throw some money on Ertz pacing the Commanders' offense in receptions against his former team.
Ken Gainwell is an electric playmaker, and electric playmakers show up in the playoffs - especially in what could turn into a shootout in Philly. Gainwell has logged 14 and 10 yards on the ground in his two playoff games, including another 10 yards through the air against the Rams in the Eagles’ Divisional Round victory.
With Barkley commanding around 25 touches this game, I wouldn’t be shocked if Sirianni goes to Gainwell for a handful of touches to switch up the pace and let Saquon rest his legs for a few plays towards halftime. Gainwell had 11 games this season with 14 or more total yards.
The dynamic Dyami Brown is finally showing us why he was a highly touted prospect in the 2021 draft class. The speedy wideout has turned into a reliable target for JD, going five for 89 yards and a score against Tampa Bay in the Wild Card round, and then following it up with a six-catch, 98-yard performance against Detroit where he came down with some crucial catches to move the sticks.
A late-season bloomer, Brown’s offensive output should earn him more targets in this game - especially with Philly’s defense keying in on Terry McLaurin.
While Austin Ekeler should be able to make an impact on the offensive end through the receiving game, we are taking his rush attempt ‘under’ against the Eagles. Ekeler rushed eight times against Tampa and six times against Detroit.
In both games, the Commanders controlled the TOP battle while playing against two non-rushing quarterbacks. That changes this weekend, with the Eagles able to control time of possession and will consistently keep Daniels and the offense on the sideline. Although Ekeler is a receiving threat, I’m expecting Daniels and Robinson to command most of the carries.
