Welcome back, everyone! After cashing in on the Royals moneyline yesterday, I decided to bring you guys two of my favorite MLB looks today and try our luck!
Yesterday road dogs dominated as they won three of the four games, and we may just see a few more dogs win today! Let's get into the action!
Sunday, October 13 at 8:16 PM | Spread | Money | Total |
New York Mets | +1.5 (-165) | +142 | O 8 (-115) |
Los Angeles Dodgers | -1.5 (128) | -160 | U 8 (-105) |
Out of five wagers yesterday, the Brewers were the only ones to let me down. They had the starting pitcher they wanted lined up, they had their lineup rested, and they had one of the better bullpens in all of the playoffs, yet none of it mattered. As soon as the Brewers took the lead yesterday, the Mets answered right back twice furiously.
The Mets played one of the better 2nd halves in all of baseball and perhaps their momentum is too much for the Brewers to slow down. The Mets are starting Sean Manaea who has been very good over his last three months, especially in September. His only struggles have been with the long ball, but if he can keep it in the park, he could have a special outing.
In September he allowed a .167 batting average against, and in the prior two months, he registered a .189 and .191, he has been locked in. On the other side while Frankie Montas had a good batting average against in September, .202, he allowed 7 home runs to the tune of a 5.05 ERA.
I don’t think Montas will get torched in this spot, but I do think the Mets bats can do enough to get him out of the game early. Against Montas, 6 hitters have a .250 average or better, specifically Fransisco Lindor who holds a .333 average and .500 on-base percentage against him. Look for Lindor total bases to be a play to lock in as well if you are looking for a hitter prop!
Call me crazy here but I believe the Braves could put themselves in position today to win this series. They have the advantage on the mound today, and even coming off an embarrassing 12 strikeout performance to Michael King last night, they can get right on Joe Musgrove today.
Fried has been spectacular over his last 5 games with a 2.14 ERA while holding hitters to .211. Over the last 15 days he holds a .143 batting average against and a 1.74 ERA. Yes this Padres lineup is dangerous, but with the Braves bullpen back intact tonight, I believe a combo of Fried and the bullpen can keep the Padres runs down.
The offense for the Braves got cooking once Albies and Harris came back from injuries. They ripped off a five game win streak and turned it on when they needed it the most to reach this position. The Braves lineup consists of 6 right-handed batters and Albies could switch to the right side as well.
Musgrove has struggled against rights to the tune of .270 batting average and a .326 on-base percentage. I believe this offense can make some noise tonight, they have their guy on the mound to boost confidence, and they know they have the arms in the pen lined up to get them out of jams.
