The MLB season has been in action for nearly a month. This has been one of the most exciting starts to a season in recent history, as several teams are outplaying what many expected of them heading into the year. Who could have predicted the Houston Astros’ slow start? Not us.
After seeing the past few weeks play out, we are excited to talk player props today. We have a relatively strong pulse on how the season has played out, and with that in mind, we’ve studied the matchups and put together our top props from Underdog. Let’s get into it!
This is our favorite play of the day, by far. Brady Singer started his season with an impressive performance, striking out 10 in a win over the Minnesota Twins. He has cooled off significantly over his last three starts, striking out four, four, and five players, respectively.
While Brady has a relatively safe floor of four strikeouts, we’re going bold and saying he’s going under this total today. The Toronto Blue Jays have the third-lowest strikeout rate in the MLB this season, and we don’t think Singer is the pitcher to break them out of this impressive rate to start the year. Look for Singer to have less than five strikeouts in this one.
Jared Jones is having an incredible start to the season. He has been a great addition to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ pitching staff. Even though his record is 1-3 on the year, Jones can sure rack up the strikeout totals.
He has achieved seven-plus strikeouts in each of his starts this year, so until he doesn’t hit this line, we’re going to keep taking his over until Underdog bumps it up.
It’s a strikeout kind of day, evidently. While we would like to take Paddack at this line against most teams, we absolutely love taking him against the Chicago White Sox.
The White Sox are the worst team in baseball at the moment, and while the Minnesota Twins have struggled at times, this is a great team for them to get back on track against. Look for Paddack to start the series in impressive fashion, achieving at least five strikeouts against the White Sox.
