Our MLB plays suffered another 1-2 fate last night. Our play on the Cardinals was spot on, as youngster Matthew Liberatore and the St. Louis bullpen shutout the Brewers 3-0. Unfortunately, our other two picks went down in flames.
The Angels just couldn't get anything going on offense against the Orioles. It may still be early in the season, but Baltimore looks like the real deal. The Yankees had plenty of chances against the Blue Jays, but they ended up losing in extra innings. Time to shake it off and move on.
Ready for some daytime baseball action? We got you covered! Check out our play for the Rays at Mets right here. It's our MLB Best Bet for Thursday, May 18.
The betting market keeps disrespecting this Rays team, even though they're 32-12 on the season. We'll gladly back Tampa Bay in this rubber game against the New York Mets. This sure looks like a bargain at basically a pick 'em price.
The way this Rays lineup has performed so far this year simply cannot be overstated. They lead all of baseball in runs scored, batting average, home runs, and OPS! Meanwhile, the Mets rank 19th in runs, 20th in batting average, and only 18th in OPS.
Tampa also has a slight edge in the starting pitching department for today's game. Taj Bradley will get the ball for the Rays, and he's 3-0 this season with a WHIP of only 0.91. The 22-year-old righty hasn't pitched in the big leagues in about a month, but his stuff is dangerous.
New York will counter with Tyler Megill, who is 4-2 this season with a 1.51 WHIP. Megill has been a consistent starter for the Mets, but he struggles with his control at times. That could be a problem against this feisty Rays lineup.
Hopefully Yandy Diaz, who has missed the last 2 games with a tight groin muscle, will be back in the lineup today for Tampa Bay. However, even if Diaz can't go, guys like Wander Franco, Randy Arozarena, and Bradon Lowe will pick up the slack.
The Mets lineup is loaded with talent, but they haven't lived up to the hype so far this season. Pete Alonso leads the club with 15 home runs, but the rest of the lineup has struggled. We look for Bradley to dominate the Mets hitters and for the Rays to bring home the W!
