Pirates-Marlins SGP: Skenes, Perez Strikeout Parlay to Back Tonight

Paul Skenes and Eury Perez are both elite strikeout arms tonight at loanDepot park. Here’s a 4-leg same game parlay mixing both pitchers’ Ks with a game total and hitter prop.

Two of the nastiest young arms in baseball are squaring off tonight at loanDepot park, and somehow the storyline everyone’s talking about isn’t the final score — it’s the strikeout counter. Paul Skenes and Eury Pérez are both averaging north of 6.5 punchouts a start in 2026, and when you put two swing-and-miss machines like that in the same box score, the parlay builder practically writes itself.

Pirates-Marlins first pitch is 6:40 PM ET, and the total has crept up to Over 7.5 even with these two arms on the mound — which tells you the market expects some fireworks around all those strikeouts, not a total pitchers’ snoozefest. We’re building a 4-leg same-game parlay that leans into exactly that tension: both aces racking up Ks, the scoreboard still finding its way to the over, and a hitter prop to tie the whole thing together.

Leg 1: Paul Skenes Over 6.5 Strikeouts

Skenes is sitting at 162 strikeouts through 129.2 innings this season — good for 6.8 Ks per start — and he’s cleared 6.5 in three of his last five outings. FanDuel has the over priced at -132, which is short juice, but for good reason: Miami’s lineup doesn’t exactly scream contact-heavy discipline, and Skenes has been filthy at home this year with a 3.44 ERA and 99 strikeouts in 73.3 innings pitched at PNC Park-caliber production on the road too.

The one wrinkle is volume. Skenes has been stretched to roughly 18 outs a start lately, so as long as the Pirates don’t get into an early blowout that yanks him after five, the strikeouts should be there. Against a Marlins lineup that ranks middle-of-the-pack in chase rate, this is the safest leg in the build.

Leg 2: Eury Pérez Over 6.5 Strikeouts

Pérez gets the plus-money treatment here at +100, and that number looks generous given what he’s doing on the mound. The 23-year-old right-hander has punched out 121 batters in 109.2 innings for a 3.61 ERA, averaging right around 6 strikeouts per start — but he’s also shown the ceiling to blow past that number when his stuff is on, and he’s coming off a stretch where Miami’s coaching staff has let him work deeper into games.

Pittsburgh’s lineup has its share of swing-and-miss bats in the middle of the order, and Pérez’s changeup-heavy arsenal tends to generate exactly the kind of empty swings that pile up strikeouts in a hurry. At even money, this leg offers real value alongside the shorter-priced Skenes over.

Leg 3: Total Over 7.5

It sounds counterintuitive to pair two strikeout overs with a total over, but that’s precisely what makes this parlay interesting. The number has settled at Over 7.5 (+102) even with Skenes and Pérez starting, which means the market isn’t buying a total shutdown — it’s pricing in solo homers, a couple of extra-base knocks, and bullpen volatility once both starters exit around the fifth or sixth inning.

Both teams have shown they can strike quickly late in games, and neither bullpen is airtight enough to lock down a low-scoring finish. Betting the swing-and-miss stuff early and the scoreboard climbing late isn’t a contradiction — it’s just how modern baseball actually plays out.

Leg 4: Brandon Lowe Over 0.5 Hits

Rounding out the build is Brandon Lowe going over 0.5 hits, priced around -175. It’s the safety-net leg of the parlay — Lowe’s been a steady contact bat all season, and getting just one hit in a game against a rotation-caliber starter like Pérez is far from a stretch. It’s the kind of leg that lets the strikeout numbers do the heavy lifting while still adding a little juice to the combined price.

The Full Parlay

Stack Skenes Over 6.5 Ks (-132), Pérez Over 6.5 Ks (+100), the Over 7.5 (+102), and Lowe Over 0.5 Hits (-175) together and you get a parlay that’s basically betting on the exact identity of this game: two dominant strikeout arms doing their thing, a scoreboard that still finds its way past the total, and a reliable bat chipping in along the way. If you’re deciding how to build a same game parlay tonight, this Pirates-Marlins slate gives you two of the best swing-and-miss arms in the sport to build around, and that’s a combination worth chasing at loanDepot park.
