Phillies-Nationals Same Game Parlay: Ride Zack Wheeler and the Philly Bats Tonight

Zack Wheeler and a red-hot Phillies lineup face a Nationals rookie starter making just his second career start. Here’s the four-leg SGP to build for tonight’s game at Nationals Park.

Zack Wheeler pitching for the Philadelphia Phillies against the Washington Nationals

Zack Wheeler on the mound against a Nationals lineup that’s playing out the string is about as juicy a same-game parlay setup as you’ll find on the Wednesday slate. First pitch at Nationals Park is 6:45 PM ET, and the Phillies are rolling into DC as the clear favorites at -196 on the moneyline, with Washington sitting at +164 as the underdog. Book it, build it, and let’s have some fun with this one.

Philadelphia has Wheeler going, and Wheeler against Washington is close to the safest bet on the board all night. The Nationals counter with Jared Simpson, who’s making just his second career MLB start after a brutal 6.75 ERA debut. That gap alone is why the total and the moneyline both lean so heavily toward the Phillies — even with numberFire’s model giving the Nationals a surprising 56% win probability based on their internal simulations, the actual betting market isn’t buying it, and neither are we for this parlay.

Leg 1: Phillies Cash the Moneyline

Wheeler is having a legitimately dominant season — 12-5 with a 3.14 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and a filthy 10.80 K/9 across 143.1 innings. He’s the kind of arm that turns a good offense into a quiet one, and Washington’s lineup, while it has some pop with James Wood and CJ Abrams, doesn’t have the pedigree to hang with him for six-plus innings.

Simpson, on the other hand, is a rookie left-hander who got shelled in his lone start this year. Facing a Phillies order that’s mashed 45 home runs from Kyle Schwarber alone this season is a nightmare matchup on paper. Philadelphia is priced at -196 here, and given the pitching gap, that’s a number we’re comfortable anchoring the parlay around.

Leg 2: Kyle Schwarber Gets on Base

Schwarber has been an absolute wrecking ball all year, slashing .239/.353/.522 with 45 home runs and 95 RBIs. Against a rookie lefty making his second big-league start, the platoon logic doesn’t hold much weight — Simpson simply hasn’t proven he can get anyone out yet, let alone a hitter locked into this kind of power stretch. Betting Schwarber to reach base or produce a hit prop here is well within reason given the recent form and the quality of arm he’s facing.

Leg 3: Bryce Harper Gets a Hit

Harper is hitting .270 with a .384 on-base percentage and 28 home runs, and he’s been squarely in the middle of Philadelphia’s lineup surge down the stretch. Against Washington’s shaky rotation depth, Harper going Over 0.5 hits (priced in the -215 range depending on your book) is one of the more comfortable player props on the board tonight. He’s simply too consistent a bat to expect a total shutdown from a pitcher this inexperienced.

Leg 4: Over on the Total

The total sits at 8.5, and even with Wheeler dealing on the other side, this Phillies lineup has the firepower to push the over on its own if Simpson struggles early. Washington’s offense has shown flashes too — Abrams and Wood can do damage — and with a shaky Nationals bullpen often forced into extended relief when their starters get knocked around early, the conditions are there for a track meet if Philadelphia gets to Simpson in the first few innings.

The Full Parlay

Stack it together: Phillies ML (-196), Schwarber to produce, Harper Over 0.5 hits, and the game Over 8.5 runs. Each leg leans on the same core thesis — Wheeler is the best arm on the field by a wide margin, and Philadelphia’s lineup should feast on a Nationals rookie starter still finding his footing.
