Welcome back baseball fans! It was another great week in the books for our readers and premium members!
We are also coming off a 4-1 night and looking to tack on a few more W’s tonight! We cashed our last article play with Kutter Crawford over 16.5 Outs, and now we head out to Los Angeles for tonight's wager!
Tyler Anderson gets the ball tonight vs division rival Oakland, in a matchup between the AL West bottom dwellers. Anderson is perhaps most known as one of the most walk friendly pitchers in all of baseball. In fact, he has walked 1+ batters in 38 straight games, with 31 of those 38 walking 2+ in each!
Safe to say he is a weekly walk target, especially with DraftKings new alternate walk lines available! Having said that, we are not here for his walk prop today! Anderson has quietly built a very solid season to this point.
He currently ranks in the 93rd percentile with a 2.48 ERA, 89th percentile with .206 BAA, and a 1.18 WHIP, all outstanding numbers. He has faced the Athletics 5 times in his career, allowing less than 3 ER in 4 of those 5. This season he is under this line in 10/15 overall, 5/8 at home, and has hit the under in 6 of his last 7 games, the only over vs Houston's hot bats.
It's tough to write this, as I divulge that I am a massive Oakland Athletics fan, and it is always tough to see them struggle. They have not hit LHP well all season, ranking 21st in wRC+ L15, ranking 19th for the full season, and ranked 29th in OB% for the full season. Their OB% vs LHP has ticked up a bit recently due to ranking 3rd in walks vs LHP L15.
The Athletics have 2 hitters, Soderstrom and Andujar, that hit over .300 vs LHP, with 11 and 13 plate appearances. Every other Oakland hitter is batting under .236, with 5 hitting under .200. This current lineup has seen Anderson in limited at bats, most being 9 and some at 0.
Two Athletics hit over .500 vs Anderson, Gelof and Nevin, both with 3 at bats, going 1 for 2, with 1 walk each. Every other hitter is under .250, and 4 have not seen him yet. If he can limit the long ball, and keep walks to a minimum of 2, he should have a good shot to stay under this and stay in rhythm to cash his 7th of last 8 games pitched.
My Best Bet: Tyler Anderson (LAA) u2.5 ER (-117) Caesars
