MLB Opening Day 2 Player Props and Predictions for March 27

Baseball is Back! Want to know what to expect on MLB Opening Day 2025? The wait is over. The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd, and the fresh smell of ballpark hot dogs—it all returns as MLB Opening Day arrives. After a long offseason filled with trades, high-profile free-agent signings, and endless speculation, it's finally time to see how the season unfolds on the field.

Opening Day isn’t just the start of another baseball season; it’s a national tradition, a fresh slate where hope runs high for every team, from reigning champions to hungry underdogs. Will the new-look rosters deliver on their hype? Which aces will set the tone for the year ahead?

Which under-the-radar teams will begin their journey toward shocking the league? Let’s dive into two of my plays for one of the most exciting days in sports!

Live player props data coming soon for Carlos Rodon.

Carlos Rodon vs Brewers

Going off of data alone, Rodon allowed over 3.5 hits in his first 4 starts last season, went over 69% for the entire season, and allowed 3 or more in 3 of his first 4 starts in Yankee Stadium last season.

Rodon did start well last season at the Astros and at the Diamondbacks, but he has another tough offense to face in Game 1. The Brewers were a playoff team last season, ranked 10th in hard hit% % (31%) vs LHP, and ranked middle of the pack in average and BABIP.

The Brewers have not been kind to starters in the spring, especially the last 10 games, where they have over 3.5 hits in 7 of their last 10 games. Hitting: 6, 4, 6, 3, 11, 3, 5, 3, 4, 6. They have a young and hungry roster, with veterans like Christian Yelich and I like them to give Rodon a good look here.

Live player props data coming soon for Paul Skenes.

Taking A Chance On Skenes!

Taking pitcher props on day 1 is always a risky proposition, but one we’ve done well on in the past. Not knowing how deep a pitcher will go or how the offense they are facing will do is two of the biggest questions. The biggest question for Skenes is how long they will let him go and there are zero reports out about this. Taking this on pure value alone!

Sure, I can see Pittsburgh allowing him to just go 5 innings, especially against what should be the worst team in baseball this season. I can also see a dominant game out of the gates, starting his push for Cy Young. If his pitch count and hits are down, they let him go 6. Skenes did reach 85 pitches in his second-to-last start in spring, and if he can get through 5 under 75 pitches, they may let him go out for a couple more outs!

Remember MLB season is a LONG season, so if things don’t go as planned on day 1 or 2, there is plenty of time to get these back plus more! Have a GREAT season everyone!

Best Bets

1% Carlos Rodon (NYY) o3.5 Hits Allowed (-105)

1% Paul Skenes (PIT) o15.5 Outs (-105)
