The Mets and Phillies wrap up their series finale Sunday at 1:35pm ET at Citizens Bank Park, and this one has all the makings of a fun same-game parlay. Philadelphia sits at 55-44 and enters as the -150 favorite on the run line, while New York (41-58) has been one of the most punchless offenses in baseball lately. Add in a red-hot Nolan McLean on the mound for the Phillies, and you’ve got a game built for a strikeout-and-under type of ticket.
We’re stacking four legs here: Phillies +1.5 on the run line, the total going Under 8.5, McLean going Over 6.5 strikeouts, and J.T. Realmuto cashing an RBI. Combined, this parlay offers serious value if McLean does what he’s been doing all June and July.
Phillies +1.5: Playing It Safe With the Better Team
Philadelphia is the better roster top to bottom, and getting them at +1.5 (-150) instead of laying the moneyline juice is the smart way to build around them. The Phillies are 3-2 in their last five and just took two of three from Detroit before this series, while the Mets have lost four of their last five and are running out the string on a lost season. Even with Alan Rangel (0-2, 4.19 ERA) on the mound for New York, Philadelphia’s lineup should be able to scratch across enough runs to cover comfortably, and the +1.5 cushion protects against a McLean short-outing scenario.
Rangel has been shaky all year — a 1.40 WHIP and just 22 strikeouts across 19.1 innings — and he’s facing a Phillies club that, park factors aside, has enough thump from Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Realmuto to make him pay.
Under 8.5 Total Runs: McLean Is the Whole Story
This is where the parlay really leans on one narrative: Nolan McLean has been shutting down bats for over a month now, posting a 2.41 ERA since the start of June and working at least six innings in five of his last six starts. He draws a Mets offense that has completely cratered — since July 1, New York ranks 24th in strikeout rate, 26th in wOBA, and 28th in wRC+ leaguewide. That’s not a cold streak, that’s a full-blown offensive collapse, and it’s happening right as McLean is peaking.
The Under 8.5 (-122 at some books, +100 at others depending on the shop) makes sense with McLean expected to eat innings and limit hard contact against a lineup that simply isn’t finding barrels right now. Rangel’s shakiness on the other side is a small risk to the under, but with McLean neutralizing the Mets for six-plus frames, there shouldn’t be enough combined offense to push this one over.
Nolan McLean Over 6.5 Strikeouts: Ride the Hot Hand
McLean has been must-watch stuff lately. He’s punched out at least seven batters in three of his last five outings, including a 9-strikeout game against the Cubs on June 24 and another 9-K performance against Cincinnati on June 17. Across his last 10 starts he’s averaging 6.1 strikeouts, and his 2026 season line — 125 strikeouts across 107.1 innings, good for a 10.48 K/9 — shows a swing-and-miss arm that’s still climbing.
Facing a Mets lineup that’s been chasing and missing at one of the league’s worst rates since July 1 only helps the case. The over sits around +110 to +116 depending on the book, and given how frequently McLean has cleared this number over his last few turns, it’s the most confident individual leg on this ticket.
J.T. Realmuto Over 0.5 RBIs: Cashing In on the Cleanup Spot
Realmuto projects as an Over 0.5 RBIs play at plus-money odds (+220), and it’s easy to see why oddsmakers still price it generously even with how the Phillies lineup has looked. He’s a steady middle-of-the-order run producer at home, and against a Mets bullpen and rotation that’s been leaking runs for weeks, one clean RBI knock from Realmuto is a very reasonable ask over nine innings. If Turner or Harper gets on base ahead of him even once, Realmuto’s spot in the order gives him a legitimate look to drive somebody in.
The Full Parlay
Put it all together — Phillies +1.5, Under 8.5 total runs, Nolan McLean Over 6.5 strikeouts, and J.T. Realmuto Over 0.5 RBIs — and you’ve got a ticket that leans almost entirely on one thing: McLean shutting down a Mets offense that’s been ice cold since the calendar flipped to July. If you want to check exact MLB odds before locking in your legs, lines can shift a bit closer to first pitch. This is a parlay built on trusting the hottest arm in the series to carry the day at Citizens Bank Park.
