Hard Rock Digital has secured a long-term licensing agreement with MLB Players, Inc., granting the company official rights to use Major League Baseball player names, images, and likenesses across its Hard Rock Bet platform. The deal, announced on April 29, 2026, and facilitated by OneTeam Partners, makes Hard Rock Bet an officially licensed sportsbook of MLB Players, Inc. — and marks a tangible shift in how the platform integrates player identity into the betting experience, with player headshots already live inside the app for the 2026 season.

What MLB Players, Inc. Actually Is

MLB Players, Inc. is the for-profit subsidiary of the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA), the union that represents all professional baseball players on the 30 MLB clubs. It functions as the exclusive group licensing agent for the commercial interests of those players, handling deals that involve the collective use of player name, image, and likeness across industries. When a company wants to use MLB player headshots, autographs, or likenesses across its products — rather than negotiating with each athlete individually — it goes through MLB Players, Inc.

OneTeam Partners, which facilitated the Hard Rock deal, is a separate entity established in 2019 as a joint venture between multiple professional player associations including the NFLPA and MLBPA. It acts as the group licensing partner for the MLBPA and represents the exclusive NIL rights of player associations across several major leagues and thousands of college athletes. The arrangement means operators licensing MLB player IP are doing so through a framework designed to benefit the players collectively.

What Is Now Inside Hard Rock Bet

The immediate change that bettors will notice is the addition of official player headshots throughout the Hard Rock Bet app. With the 2026 MLB season underway, player photos are embedded in player profiles and prop betting markets. This is a practical improvement as much as a cosmetic one — when a bettor is navigating a list of home run prop markets or player-specific game lines, having a recognizable face attached to each entry makes the interface easier to scan and more engaging to use. Anyone already exploring MLB betting will find the visual upgrades genuinely useful when moving between player prop markets.

The deal extends beyond the app itself. Hard Rock Bet is also permitted to use MLB player IP across its broader marketing ecosystem, including advertising campaigns and at retail sportsbook locations throughout North America. That means the platform can now feature real player faces and names in promotional content — something that previously required individual athlete endorsement contracts. The licensing arrangement allows Hard Rock to do this at scale, across the entire active and minor league roster covered by the MLBPA.

Where Hard Rock Bet Fits in the Competitive Landscape

Hard Rock Bet entered the U.S. sports betting market as a challenger to the dominant platforms. While FanDuel and DraftKings have long used individual athlete endorsement deals for their marketing, the group licensing route through MLB Players, Inc. represents a different strategy: instead of paying a single star for an individual campaign, an operator gains the ability to feature any player across the entire league for product and marketing use.

Hard Rock is not alone in pursuing this approach. Caesars Entertainment signed a multiyear agreement with MLB Players, Inc. on April 15, 2026 — two weeks before Hard Rock’s announcement — granting Caesars Sportsbook and William Hill the same category of NIL rights for use on their platforms and retail locations. FanDuel had previously signed a licensing agreement with MLB Players, Inc. through OneTeam Partners in November 2024, enabling player-centric features on its sportsbook platform starting in 2025. The fact that multiple operators are pursuing similar deals in a compressed timeframe suggests the industry is treating official player imagery as a standard feature rather than a differentiator.

Mike Primeaux, Hard Rock Digital’s Executive Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, described the partnership as central to the platform’s product roadmap. “The power and authenticity of player NIL will play a critical role in elevating our product experience and strengthening fan engagement throughout the season,” he said in the announcement. Evan Kaplan, President of MLB Players, Inc., echoed the value of the arrangement for players: “This partnership with Hard Rock Digital ensures that connection is authentic, licensed, and reflective of the value MLB players bring to the game.”

What It Means for Bettors and the Platform

For anyone using Hard Rock Bet to wager on baseball, the most visible change is a more polished, player-forward interface. Searching for player props across the league is one of the fastest-growing segments of the sports wagering market, driven by markets like home runs, strikeouts, and hits. When those markets are accompanied by a player’s official headshot and recognizable visual identity, the experience becomes more intuitive for casual fans who may know a player’s face better than their full name and team affiliation in a dropdown list.

The broader strategic picture for Hard Rock Bet is about brand positioning. The platform is competing against deeply entrenched incumbents and a wave of new entrants, and official player imagery is one piece of a product roadmap aimed at making Hard Rock Bet feel like a premium, authentic destination for sports bettors. Whether that strategy translates into meaningful market share gains remains to be seen, but the spring of 2026 appears to be a moment where the industry is broadly converging on licensed player content as a baseline expectation for competitive sportsbook products.
