Dodgers vs. Braves NLDS Game 4 Prediction: Can Atlanta Stave Off Elimination?

The Los Angeles Dodgers arrive at Truist Park on Wednesday night with a chance to close out the National League Division Series and punch their ticket to a third straight NLCS. Los Angeles took Game 3 on Tuesday, 3-1, behind a dominant Yoshinobu Yamamoto outing, and now leads the best-of-five set 2-1. The Atlanta Braves, who rode a 94-68 regular season and a National League East title back into October for the first time since 2024, are facing the exact scenario they hoped to avoid: win or go home, in front of their own fans, against the defending champs.

First pitch from Truist Park is set for 6:00 p.m. ET on FS1. The Dodgers finished the regular season 100-62, matching the Braves’ old franchise record for consecutive postseason appearances (14 straight), while Atlanta is trying to validate a late-season surge that got them past Philadelphia in the Wild Card round.

Where the Odds Stand Heading Into a Win-or-Go-Home Night

Vegas has installed Los Angeles as a road favorite, with the Dodgers moneyline sitting around -140 to -150 depending on the book and Atlanta drawing +120 to +125 as the home underdog. The run line has Los Angeles at -1.5 (+123 to +128) and Atlanta at +1.5 (-148 to -155), while the total opened at 7.5 runs. That line has held remarkably steady since Game 3 wrapped, with only about 54-60% of early tickets backing the road favorite — a sign the market isn’t fully buying a Dodgers blowout even with elimination pressure on Atlanta.

Books are also offering a Tyler Glasnow strikeout prop at 6.5, and with his recent workload, that number has been drawing heavy over action.

Glasnow’s Strikeout Surge Meets a Mahle Team Needs to Trust

The pitching matchup favors Los Angeles on paper. Tyler Glasnow (5-2, 3.53 ERA) takes the ball after a scorching finish to the regular season — 11 strikeouts in 6.1 innings against San Diego in his final tune-up and 10 strikeouts in six innings against the Giants before that. Since returning from a lengthy absence in late August, Glasnow has struck out 49 batters across just 34.1 innings, including seven against this very Braves lineup back on Aug. 25. His road splits this year (2.84 ERA) are notably better than his home numbers, which bodes well for Atlanta’s hitters needing to dig in against him in a hostile building for the Dodgers rather than a friendly one.

Tyler Mahle (7-10, 3.99 ERA) gets the ball for Atlanta after saying Tuesday that the abdominal pull that bothered him in the Wild Card round against Philadelphia is “a non-issue.” Mahle actually delivered in that outing anyway, tossing seven innings of one-run ball despite the injury scare, and he’ll need a similarly composed effort here. Atlanta’s bullpen, already thin behind a rotation hit hard by injuries to Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenbach, Bryce Elder and Martin Perez, doesn’t have much margin for an early hook.

Los Angeles got exactly what it needed in Game 3, with Yamamoto out-dueling Atlanta ace Chris Sale, who was tagged for home runs from Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman in a three-run fourth inning. Freeman’s blast was his 18th career postseason homer, and Hernández — who has quietly been a Dodgers X-factor all series — drove in the eventual winning run. Atlanta stranded six runners across the first three innings of Game 3 and couldn’t solve Yamamoto, who improved to 8-1 in his postseason career with 10 strikeouts over seven innings.

There’s injury context worth watching on both sides. Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas exited Game 3 with a lower-back issue, and if he can’t go, Tommy Edman projects to see more time at second base. For Atlanta, Ronald Acuña has been battling knee soreness and has shifted into the DH spot to lighten the physical load, while Sean Murphy was scratched from Game 3 in favor of Lane Thomas in right field. If Mike Yastrzemski is in the lineup against the right-handed Glasnow, Atlanta’s outfield picture could look different again Wednesday.

Other Game Picks

Prediction and Best Bet

Los Angeles has shown all series that its lineup can scratch out just enough against quality Atlanta pitching, and Glasnow’s recent strikeout surge combined with a shaky Atlanta bullpen tilts this one toward the Dodgers closing out the series on the road. Atlanta’s offense has had its moments — Michael Harris II went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple in Game 2 — but asking this lineup to solve Glasnow after struggling against Sale and Yamamoto in back-to-back games is a tall order.

  • Prediction: Dodgers 5, Braves 3
  • Best Bet: Dodgers on the moneyline

With Glasnow trending toward another high-strikeout night and Atlanta’s pitching depth stretched thin behind Mahle, the value lies with Los Angeles closing this series out in four rather than needing a Game 5 back at Dodger Stadium. Bettors looking for an alternate angle should also keep an eye on the MLB odds board throughout the night, since lines on a potential decisive game can move fast if Atlanta jumps out early.
