Happy Tuesday, everyone! The MLB season has been underway for less than a week, and there has already been a lot of drama and excitement over the past few days.
While the season is still getting settled, we’re diving head-first into Underdog’s player props, trying to get a grasp on this season’s action. With that in mind, let’s take a look at our four favorite plays from tonight’s games!
Bobby Witt Jr. has been on an absolute tear to start the year. He already has eight hits through four games, which includes two home runs.
He had a massive homer against the Baltimore Orioles yesterday, and while we’re not going to project him to do that again tonight, we like his chances of getting at least a hit and an RBI or two.
This would put him well on his way to hitting the over on his fantasy points total for his fifth straight game. It’s too early in the year to fade Witt Jr.!
Nick Martini has been one of the most fun stories in baseball this year. Everyone counted him out, and yet he not only made the Cincinnati Reds’ Opening Day roster but has also played well when given the proper opportunity.
Martini has hit the over on this line in two of three games this season, and we believe he can do it again tonight, even against a tough matchup with Spencer Turnbull.
We love this line for Adolis Garcia as well. Similarly to Bobby Witt Jr., Garcia has started the season strong.
He has been a strong force for the Texas Rangers to begin the year, and with Josh Jung breaking his hand yesterday, we believe Garcia will step up in a big way, crushing his hits, runs, and RBI line.
In our mind, we’re more interested in taking this line because of what Zac Gallen can do rather than what the New York Yankees, their opponent, can do. The Yankees have started the year off hot, but we’re projecting their bats to cool down a lot tonight.
Gallen was one of the best pitchers in baseball last year, and we think that trend will continue tonight, believing he’ll strike out at least six batters.
