Happy Friday, everyone! The All-Star break is right around the corner, and we’re certainly excited about all of the upcoming festivities.
However, there are still a few more games to be played before this break. Teams are looking to put their best foot forward before the break, getting themselves into prime position for the second-half of the season.
With that in mind, we’ve put together our favorite player props for today’s action, which is provided by Underdog.
Sandy Alcantara was one of the best pitchers in the MLB during the 2022 season, winning the Cy Young award. He started this year off on the wrong foot, losing six of his first seven games.
He has turned things around as of late, winning four of his last six contests. However, Alcantara hasn’t achieved more than 6 strikeouts in a game since June 4th and has only reached this total four times all season.
Plus, he’s facing off against the Philadelphia Phillies today, who are surging and in need of a great hitting performance. We wouldn’t be surprised if Alcantara was pulled early today, resulting in him hitting the under on his strikeout total.
It’s no secret that Ronald Acuña is one of the best hitters in the MLB. He’s been one of the most consistent players across the league, getting it done with a combination of speed, power and contact.
However, 12.5 fantasy points is a lot for anyone, especially when they’re facing a dominant pitcher like Tyler Glasnow.
We hate to go against Acuña, especially how fun he is to watch on the field. But, with Glasnow on the bump for the Rays, we have to take the under in this spot.
We don’t typically like to take a lot of unders, especially considering that it feels more fun to take overs. However, with Trevor Williams in this spot against the Texas Rangers today, the under is more than adequate.
The Rangers are one of the best hitting teams in baseball, but they have been in a bit of a slide as of late. They should have a field day against Williams, who has struggled lately.
He’s only eclipsed 4 strikeouts in two of his last five games, which came against the lowly Cardinals and Mariners. With this in mind, we’re trending towards the under on Williams’ strikeout total today.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Elly De La Cruz continues to be one of the most electric players in all of baseball.
In fact, he recently had his bat checked in a three-hit day, where he absolutely dismantled the Washington Nationals. Tonight, Cruz faces off against Corbin Burnes, one of the better pitchers across the league.
While this might cause initial trepidation about taking his over, we’re confident that this hitting machine will find a way tonight.
