3 MLB Props to Back Today: Best of the Board Mixed Bets

Two hot St. Louis bats and an elite strikeout arm headline the best mixed props on today’s MLB slate.

Thursday’s MLB slate is loaded, but three props stand out above the noise regardless of what kind of bet you’re into. Two St. Louis bats are feasting on a shaky Baltimore pitching staff in the series finale, and on the other coast, Yoshinobu Yamamoto is quietly building one of the best strikeout stretches of any starter in baseball. Mix all three types of bets together and you get a board that’s genuinely hard to argue with.

These are the three plays worth attention today — a pair of contact-heavy hitters at short prices and a swing-and-miss arm catching a lineup he’s dominated before.

Jordan Walker Keeps Hitting Everything Baltimore Throws

Jordan Walker (STL #18) is a lock at Over 0.5 Hits (-250) against the Orioles, and the price reflects exactly how automatic this has become. Walker is hitting .285 with a .502 slugging percentage on the season, and he’s racked up 144 hits and 27 home runs across 130 games — a full-season breakout that’s made him one of the more dangerous outfield bats in the National League.

The matchup only sweetens things. Baltimore’s pitching staff has been vulnerable all series, and St. Louis put up eight runs the day before this finale with Walker chipping in an RBI double during a six-run fifth inning. Getting just one hit from a hitter running a .285 average against a bullpen that’s been giving up contact all week isn’t a stretch — it’s closer to a formality, and that’s exactly why the price sits where it does.

Alec Burleson Is Riding the Same Wave

Right there with Walker is teammate Alec Burleson (STL #41), also at Over 0.5 Hits, priced at -222. Burleson’s been arguably the more consistent bat in that Cardinals lineup all year — a .291 average, .484 slugging, and 147 hits with 21 home runs across 133 games. He’s a table-setter who rarely goes cold for long stretches.

Burleson was directly involved in that same series comeback, starting the rally with a two-run single that flipped momentum in St. Louis’ favor. When a lineup is clicking the way the Cardinals’ has been against this Baltimore staff, betting the two hottest bats to simply reach base once each is about as low-variance as a prop gets. Stack it with Walker’s and you’ve got a correlated pair riding the exact same tailwind.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Strikeout Numbers Are Elite Right Now

The swing-and-miss angle comes from Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD #18), who’s Over 5.5 Strikeouts tonight against Atlanta. Yamamoto sits at 6.3 strikeouts per game for the season, with 145 punchouts in 151.2 innings — an 8.6 K/9 rate and a sparkling 2.61 ERA that ranks among the best of any qualified starter in baseball.

What makes this particular start stand out is the recent form and the history against this exact opponent. Yamamoto has posted back-to-back nine-strikeout outings in his last two starts, and in his career against Atlanta he’s never allowed a run across two appearances, racking up nine combined strikeouts in 10.0 innings. Projections have him around six strikeouts tonight, comfortably clearing the 5.5 line, and with Chris Sale on the mound for the Braves in what shapes up as a genuine pitcher’s duel, there’s no reason to expect the Dodgers ace to be pulled early.

Today’s Edge

Three completely different bet types, three different reasons for confidence — that’s the appeal of building a board this way instead of sticking to one prop category. Check your book for final odds before locking anything in, since lines can move closer to first pitch.

  • Jordan Walker Over 0.5 Hits (-250)
  • Alec Burleson Over 0.5 Hits (-222)
  • Yoshinobu Yamamoto Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Two hot Cardinals bats against a struggling Baltimore staff and an elite strikeout arm with a track record against tonight’s opponent — this is the kind of mixed board that’s built to cash. If you want to explore more ways to build out today’s card, the player prop search tool is worth a look before first pitch.
