3 MLB Player Props for Tuesday, July 2

Happy Tuesday, everyone! If you didn’t tune into yesterday’s three-game MLB slate, you missed out. There was a pitcher’s duel in the Houston Astros matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays, and the other two contests went into extras. While there weren’t a lot of games going on, these six teams certainly gave fans their money’s worth.

We are looking forward to tonight’s action, as all 30 MLB clubs will be facing off. This gives fans plenty to be excited about, and it also gives us many options to choose from when studying Underdog’s board of player props.

After examining the slate and crunching the numbers, we’ve put together our favorite plays from this evening. We missed out on a clean sweep on yesterday’s picks by one strikeout, so let’s change the tides tonight!

Live player props data coming soon for Kyle Gibson.

Kyle Gibson OVER 4.5 Strikeouts

This is, by far, our favorite play of the night. Kyle Gibson and the St. Louis Cardinals are taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight, a series we’re really looking forward to.

If the season ended today, the Cardinals would be in the playoffs, where the Pirates are still a few games back, putting extra stakes on the series. We believe Kyle Gibson is poised to start the series off with a bang for the Cardinals, hoping to strengthen their lead over the Pirates in the division.

The Pirates have the fourth-highest strikeout rate of any team in the league this year, and with Gibson starting to find his groove, it’s the perfect time to take the over on his strikeout line.

Live player props data coming soon for Graham Ashcraft.

Graham Ashcraft UNDER 15.5 Pitching Outs

After a hot start to the year, the New York Yankees went on a nasty losing streak. There was a period of time a few weeks ago where they lost 9 of 11 games, causing fans and analysts to wonder if the team had lost their luster and if the first half of the season was just a fluke.

While this might have been a cause of concern for a time, the Yankees have turned things around, scoring 16, 3, and 8 runs in their last three games. This is bad news for Graham Ashcraft and the Cincinnati Reds, as we believe he could get shelled tonight with the Yankees’ current hitting prowess in mind.

Ashcraft has had some rough outings this year, and with a tough matchup tonight, we don’t like his chances of getting past the fifth inning, which is why we’re taking the under on his pitching outs line.

Live player props data coming soon for Hayden Wesneski.

Hayden Wesneski UNDER 15.5 Pitching Outs

Hayden Wesneski is a tough read heading into this matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies. He has spent some time in the bullpen for the Chicago Cubs but is recently being asked to open for them instead.

Wesneski did pitch exceptionally well against the San Francisco Giants last week, but we don’t expect this wizardry to continue against the Phillies. The Phillies continue to be one of the best teams in baseball, and we expect them to hit Wesneski hard, knocking him out of the game by the end of the fifth inning.
