The MLB playoffs are just in the divisional rounds, but we’ve already seen a lot of craziness and chaos. Baseball fans are in for a real treat if the rest of the games provide similar outcomes.
The National League teams have the night off tonight, but the American League still has two games taking place. The day starts with a matchup between the Cleveland Guardians and the Detroit Lions, and the next game is between the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals.
We’ve taken a look at Underdog’s player props board of players from both games, and we’re excited to share our favorite plays of the night. Let’s get into it!
This is, by far, our favorite play of the day. The Tigers are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Guardians in Game 1 of the ALDS, and they’re trying to do anything possible to stay in the series.
Another loss would effectively end their chances of winning the series, as being down 2-0 has traditionally been a death sentence. Thankfully, Tarik Skubal is on the mound for them, one of the best pitchers in the league.
Skubal has traditionally been good against the Guardians, striking out at least six batters in his last two outings against them. We expect the Guardians to swing the bats a lot tonight, so look for Skubal to take full advantage and strike out several batters.
Many people believe the Royals got the short end of the stick in Game 1 of the ALDS, as a stolen base call went against them in favor of the Yankees. This completely shifted the game’s momentum, with the Yankees taking control for the rest of the contest.
With this in mind, we’re betting that the Royals are going to come out hot, getting to Carlos Rodon early. They’re going to be upset about the Game 1 loss and should get the bats going early.
Look for the Kansas City hitters to take Rodon out of this one by the fifth inning, hopefully, after he gives up 5+ hits.
Is it that surprising to take the over on Bobby Witt Jr.’s total bases? He’s the heart and soul of the Royals, and there’s nobody we’d trust more to have at least two total bases in this one.
Witt continues to be a superstar for the Royals, and while other hitters have come in clutch at times, tonight will be yet another opportunity for him to showcase why he’s worth all the money the team is paying him.
