Wednesday is one of the best days of the week because we get daytime baseball! Our MLB picks stumbled to another 1-2 mark on Tuesday night. The Rays endured a tough road loss to the Orioles, and the Jays left about a thousand men on base in a weird loss to the Phillies.
Thankfully, the Padres rallied late to take down the Twins to keep us from a really bad evening. Here are 3 MLB Best Bets for Wednesday, May 10. Two of these are early games, so make sure to get your bets down in time. Let's do this!
We wanted to ride the Yanks yesterday but were scared off because of their offensive struggles. However, the Boys in Pinstripes got Aaron Judge back yesterday, which did wonders for their lineup. The reigning AL MVP drove in 2 runs while 4 of his teammates homered on Tuesday night.
We're expecting New York to stay hot today against Oakland starter Kyle Muller, who has a WHIP of 1.94 and a hard-hit rate of 51.4%! Guys like Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and DJ LeMahieu shouldn't have any trouble teeing off on Muller in this one.
Jhony Brito doesn't have the best stuff, but his hard-hit rate is only 39.8%, which isn't too bad. It also doesn't hurt that Oakland's anemic lineup is only hitting .221 versus righties. New York also has a huge bullpen edge, so we'll play the run line!
This Pirates team has come back down to earth in a big way after a hot start to 2023. Pittsburgh has lost 8 of its last 10, and the offense has just been pitiful. The Rockies, on the other hand, are showing signs of life and have won 7 of their last 10.
CJ Cron and Elias Diaz have been the offensive catalysts for Colorado during their recent hot streak. We like the current form of this Rockies lineup, and we like that they'll be facing Rich Hill. The veteran lefty is 3-3 this year but has a 5.26 FIP. Look for Cron or Kris Bryant to take Hill deep this afternoon.
Though Pittsburgh has a much better record, we power rate these teams as pretty close to even. The +130 price tag is too good to pass up, especially with Pittsburgh's lack of offensive prowess. Let's play the Rox!
We won with San Diego last night and don't mind nibbling on them again at a dog price. Minnesota has a nice squad, but they've only won 4 of their last 10 games. The Twins will start Pablo Lopez, and he's really scuffled over his last 3 starts (6.88 ERA, 1.53 WHIP).
The Pads have struggled against righties, but we think they'll do some damage against Lopez. Guys like Juan Soto and Manny Machado will eventually get hot, and it could very well happen tonight against Minny. Lopez has caught too much of the plate recently, and San Diego will make him pay if that happens in this game.
These bullpens are about even, according to our numbers. Minny has the slight edge in starting pitching, but that's negated by Lopez's recent struggles. San Diego's lineup has more pop, so we'll ride them tonight on the road once again!
