3 MLB Best Bets for Tuesday, August 8

Monday was kind to us, as we went 2-1 with our baseball selections. As we predicted, the Twins trounced the Tigers early on in the evening. The Blue Jays made us sweat a little, but they eventually prevailed over the Guardians.

Our only blemish was on the Cubs, mainly because of Drew Smyly. We're going to put him on the "Buyer Beware" list. Let's keep it rolling with 3 MLB Best Bets for Tuesday, August 8. Rock and Roll!

Best Bet: Twins (-112)

Might as well run it back with the Twinkies tonight, especially since they've won 5 in a row. Minnesota's lineup is finally starting to produce, and it's happening at just the right time. Ryan Jeffers has been a beast of late at the plate by hitting 4 bombs over his last 4 games. Carlos Correa has also been on a good roll.

The Tigers have won just 3 of their last 10 games and their offense continues to scuffle. Detroit is averaging just 3.9 runs per 9 innings over their last 5 games. The Motor City Kitties will have the starting pitching edge with Eduardo Rodriguez on the hill tonight, but that's their only edge.

E-Rod has been solid, but Sonny Gray hasn't been too bad either for Minny. The veteran righty has only given up 7 earned runs over his last 3 starts. He's also dominated this Tigers roster, as Detroit's expected batting average against Gray is only .165. Go Twinkies!

Best Bet: Blue Jays (-120)

In the spirit of running it back, let's do the same thing with the Blue Jays! Toronto has been on fire lately and Cleveland has gone into the toilet. The Jays have won 7 of 10 while the Guards have only won 2 of 10.

I love the way Yusei Kikuchi has been pitching lately. He's throwing his curveball just outside the zone and hitters are chasing it. The seasoned lefty is 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA over his last 5 starts.

Tanner Bibee is a pretty solid rookie for Cleveland, but this lineup won't be able to give him enough run support. Cleveland has struggled to hit lefties all year long and they're averaging just 0.9 runs per 9 against southpaws over their last 10 games. Lay it with the Jays!

Best Bet: Dodgers (-150)

This one's juicy, but the Dodgers offense is worth the squeeze. This lineup is the most productive in baseball outside of the Atlanta Braves. Freddie Freeman is hitting .340 and Mookie Betts is hitting moon shots on a regular basis.

The Boys in Blue have the edge in 3 major phases of the game in this one (starting pitcher, bullpen, and hitting). Julio Urias hasn't been as dominant as in years past, but he's still done exceptionally well against Arizona in his career. The D'Backs are hitting just .198 against Urias as a whole.

Brandon Pfaadt will get the ball for Zona, and he's got a live arm and a promising MLB career ahead of him. That being said, this Dodgers lineup will be too much for the young rookie to handle. Play LA!
