3 MLB Best Bets for Monday, May 8

Even after a tough 1-3 outing on Friday, our MLB best bets are still 30-21 this season. A few of the losses were surprising. The Oakland offense suddenly sprung to life against Kansas City, and the Padres knocked around Clayton Kershaw.

The Rays did beat the Yankees, but they didn't cover the run line for us in that one. Thankfully, the Blue Jays shut out the Pirates to keep us from the dreadful golden sombrero.

Anyway, it's time to start another winning streak! Here's who we like for Monday, May 8. Best of luck with your plays!

Best Bet: Dodgers (-104)

Sure, the Brewers have been tough at home this season, but we think this is a bargain price on the Dodgers. The Boys in Blue have won 8 of their last 10, and they'll send Tony Gonsolin to the hill tonight.

He's only started 2 games so far, but Gonsolin's hard-hit rate is only 19.2%, which is insanely good! The Brewers will counter with Freddy Peralta, who has been solid this year with a 3-2 record and a FIP of 3.61.

That being said, LA is averaging over 6 runs per game against righties. Look for Max Muncy, who leads LA in homers and RBI, to play a big role in this one.

Best Bet: Astros (-120)

Wow! Here's another opportunity to get one of the best MLB teams at a short price. Yes, the Astros have been disappointing at 17-17, but this lineup is going to turn it around at some point. Houston hits lefties better than righties (.248 vs .232), and we think they'll be able to get to Patrick Sandoval.

The young Angels lefty is 3-1 this season, but his FIP is at 4.20. This means he may be due for some negative regression pretty soon. The Stros will counter with Hunter Brown, who has a FIP of only 2.83 this season!

We wish Houston was in better current form, but we can't resist this cheap of a price. Let's lay the small number and look for Yordan Alvarez to carry the load for H-Town!

Best Bet: Diamondbacks -1.5 (+105)

Zac Gallen may very well end up winning this year's Cy Young Award in the NL. This kid is almost unhittable when he's got his best stuff. The young righty is 4-1 this season and leads the league in FIP at 1.71!

We think Gallen will dominate this anemic Marlins lineup that ranks dead last in runs scored and 27th in both OPS and home runs. The Fish are only scoring 3.07 runs per 9 innings against righties. As we said, Gallen should carve them up pretty easily.

On the flip side, we're expecting a big performance from this D'Backs lineup. Arizona ranks 3rd in batting average and 6th in runs scored. Christian Walker and Corbin Carroll should be able to do some damage against Miami starter Braxton Garrett, who has a hard-hit rate of 48.4%!
