3 Best MLB Props to Back Today: Alvarez Ks, Caminero and Robert Jr. Power

Three of the sharpest MLB props on today’s board: a Nationals strikeout arm and two red-hot power bats set to keep raking against Toronto and New York.

Monday’s MLB slate is loaded, and instead of forcing you into one type of bet, we went out and found the three strongest props on the entire board today — no matter if they’re a strikeout total, a hits-plus-runs-plus-RBIs number, or anything in between. This is the best-of-the-board approach: take the sharpest angle regardless of category and stack them together.

Two red-hot bats and a Nationals arm who’s quietly been striking hitters out at a career-best clip make up today’s trio. Here’s why we’re backing all three.

Andrew Alvarez Has Missed Bats All Season Long

Andrew Alvarez has bounced between the rotation and the bullpen for Washington this year, but wherever he’s pitched, the strikeouts have followed. Through 11 appearances and 41.1 innings, Alvarez has racked up 48 strikeouts — good for an eye-opening rate that puts him near a strikeout per inning for the season. He’s coming off a start against Boston where he punched out six in 4.2 innings, and he’s fanned five or more in five of his outings dating back to April.

Toronto’s lineup strikes out at a solid clip against off-speed stuff, and Alvarez has leaned on his breaking pitches to rack up whiffs all year. With his surface numbers (3.05 ERA, 1.38 WHIP over his last 15 games) backing up the swing-and-miss trend, the over on 3.5 strikeouts looks like exactly the kind of number sportsbooks set conservatively because of his multi-inning role — but the swings-and-misses have been real and consistent regardless of how long he’s stayed in the game.

Junior Caminero Is the Hottest Bat in the American League

Junior Caminero has been an absolute wrecking ball for Tampa Bay lately, and the counting-stat props are the easiest way to cash in on it. Over his last eight games, Caminero is 14-for-31 (.452) with nine home runs, a stretch that ties a Rays franchise record for consecutive games with a homer. Zoom out to the last 30 days and it’s still video-game numbers: a .283 average with 14 homers and 29 RBIs in that span alone.

With 28 home runs and 61 runs scored already on the season, Caminero’s combination of power and lineup spot near the middle of Tampa Bay’s order makes the Over on 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs about as close to a layup as a same-day prop gets right now. He doesn’t need a home run to clear this number — a single with a run scored gets it done, and he’s been doing far more than that lately.

Luis Robert Jr. Faces a Yankees Rotation Missing Its Ace

Luis Robert Jr. has had an up-and-down season overall, but the raw power tools that made him a star are still very much present, and that’s what makes this prop interesting against a Yankees staff. Robert draws Max Fried on the mound, and while Fried has quietly been excellent for New York this year (4-3, 3.21 ERA), he’s shown some cracks lately — a 4.10 ERA and 19 earned runs allowed over his last seven starts, more traffic on the bases than his season line suggests.

Robert’s chase-and-power profile means he doesn’t need a hot streak to hit this number — one extra-base knock or a run scored on a White Sox rally gets him there, and he’s shown pop in flashes all year (two homers and eight RBIs already despite a modest average). Against a Fried outing that’s trending hittable, the Over on 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs is a smart swing on South Side power.

Today’s Best-of-the-Board Card

Three completely different bet types, one common thread: each of these numbers looks soft relative to what these three have actually been doing on the field. Check your book for the latest line movement before locking anything in, but here’s how we’re stacking today’s card.

  • Andrew Alvarez (WSH) Over 3.5 Strikeouts vs. Toronto
  • Junior Caminero (TB) Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs
  • Luis Robert Jr. (CHW) Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs vs. Max Fried and the Yankees

Mix and match these into a same game parlay or play them straight — either way, these are the three sharpest looks on the board today. For more angles on how to build out your card, check out our same game parlays guide before you place your bets.
