3 Best MLB Player Props on the Board Today: Yamamoto, Chourio, Contreras

Yamamoto’s strikeout prop, a Chourio longshot home run play, and a near-automatic Contreras hits bet — three of the best MLB props on the board today.

October baseball doesn’t leave much room for guesswork, but it does leave room for great player props — and tonight’s slate is stacked with them. We scanned the board across every series still alive and landed on three picks that have nothing in common except that they’re all sitting in great spots: a strikeout artist on the mound for the Dodgers, a Brewers phenom who can leave the yard at any moment, and his catcher who basically never fails to get a hit. This is best-of-the-board mixed bets, and it’s a fun group to roll with tonight.

No chalk-chasing here, no forcing a theme. Just three bets we’d actually put money on, with the numbers to back each one up.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Strikeouts Over 6.5 (+102)

Yamamoto gets the ball for the Dodgers tonight in a win-or-go-home spot against Chris Sale and the Braves, and the strikeout prop here is too appealing to pass on at plus money. The reigning World Series MVP has been an ace all season, posting a 2.53 ERA and 182 strikeouts across his starts, and he’s racked up at least 6 punchouts in the vast majority of his outings down the stretch.

Look at his last several turns: 4, 7, 10, 8, 8, 9, 9, 6, 3, 5 strikeouts over his last 10 starts — an average right around 6.9 per outing. That’s a pitcher who clears this number more often than not even on his quieter nights, and this is an elimination-adjacent game where he’s going to be allowed to push deep into contact innings rather than get an early hook.

Books are split on where exactly to set this number — some have it at 5.5, some at 6.5, some at 7.5 depending on the day — which tells you the market itself isn’t fully settled on just how dominant Yamamoto has been. At +102 for the over on 6.5, you’re getting plus-money on a number this Dodgers ace has cleared in 7 of his last 10 outings.

Jackson Chourio Home Run Over 0.5 (+482)

This is the fun one. Chourio has been one of the most dangerous young hitters in baseball all year, finishing the regular season with 25 home runs, and he’s shown he can change a game with one swing in October. At +482, you’re getting nearly 5-to-1 on a player who’s gone deep in right around 18% of his games this season — hardly a longshot swing for that kind of number.

The appeal of a prop like this in the postseason is simple: Chourio doesn’t need to have a “good game” by traditional measures to cash this bet. He needs one mistake pitch. With the Brewers deep into a series where every at-bat carries weight, expect pitchers to be careful — but careful pitching against a hitter with this kind of raw power sometimes means a pitch that catches too much plate.

It’s a true longshot play by design, but the price reflects real value against a player who has legitimate thump in his bat and a track record of hitting the ball out of any yard he steps into.

William Contreras Hits Over 0.5 (-218)

If Chourio is the lottery ticket, Contreras is the anchor. The Brewers’ All-Star catcher has been automatic in this category, hitting .270 with 153 hits across 147 games this season, and his recent form has been even better than his season averages suggest — he’s cleared this number in 10 straight games and sits around 90% on this prop over his last 10 outings.

At -218, the price tells you this isn’t a market inefficiency — it’s a projection backed by a hitter who simply doesn’t go hitless very often. Contreras is averaging north of a hit per game across the full season and has been even more consistent than that lately, making this closer to a table-setter play than a true betting risk.

The juice is real, but so is the floor. When a hitter is clearing a number at a 90% clip over his last 10 games, that’s exactly the kind of prop to lean on even at a shorter price — and it pairs nicely as a safer anchor next to the Chourio swing-for-the-fences play above.

Lock These In

Three completely different kinds of bets, three completely different reasons to like them — that’s what makes a best-of-the-board slate fun. An ace who misses bats, a slugger who can win the bet in one swing, and a catcher who just doesn’t miss. Check your book for final lines before first pitch, since numbers can shift as lineups get posted.

  • Yoshinobu Yamamoto OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (+102)
  • Jackson Chourio OVER 0.5 Home Runs (+482)
  • William Contreras OVER 0.5 Hits (-218)
