2 MLB Best Bets for Wednesday, July 5

We're fresh off a nice 2-0 sweep on Monday with our baseball selections. The Braves continued to show why they're the best team in baseball by beating the Guardians. The Yankees also cashed for us with a nice little comeback win over the Orioles, thanks to Harrison Bader and his clutch 3-run bomb!

Check out our 2 MLB Best Bets for Wednesday, July 5 to rake in some cash! Good luck with all of your action on the diamond tonight! Let's ride!

Best Bet: Reds (-116)

Does Graham Ashcraft scare the living daylights out of me? Absolutely! However, this Reds team has been too good to us to not ride them at this cheap of a price. Though Ashcraft's season-long numbers are terrible, he looked like an ace in his last start by striking out 7 and only allowing 1 run against San Diego.

Josiah Gray is an All-Star and he's hands-down the best starter in the Nationals' rotation. That being said, we think the oddsmakers are overestimating the importance of starting pitching with this line. Gray is better than Ashcraft, but the Reds have the better bullpen by a long shot. Cincy's reliever ERA is 3.97 while Washington's is a robust 5.00.

We'll gladly back the Reds at basically a pick'em. Cincinnati is 18-4 over their last 22 games and has won 6 of its last 7. Jonathan India homered twice yesterday and Spencer Steer and Elly De La Cruz both had 4 hits. Look for the Reds to stay "Red-Hot"!

Best Bet: OVER 9 (-110)

We don't play many totals, but we just couldn't resist playing an Over with these two subpar bullpens! Dodgers' relievers give up 4.90 runs per 9 innings and the Pirates bullpen isn't much better at 4.77. These two teams have gone over the total in 4 of their 5 meetings this season, and they combined for 16 runs in yesterday's contest.

Both lineups are in outstanding current form. Pittsburgh has gone over in 7 of their last 10 and LA has gone over in 8 of their last 10. The Dodgers have 7 hitters with a hard-hit rate of 41.5% or higher. Pittsburgh has 4 guys with high hard-hit rates, and Bryan Reynolds and Jack Suwinksi both exceed 50%.

Look for the Dodgers to put up plenty of runs behind Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, JD Martinez, and James Outman. LA has been an Over team all season long, as 49 of their 81 games have sailed over the total. Let's cheer for some runs in this one!
