2 MLB Best Bets for Thursday, May 4

Don't look now, but we've won 10 of our last 12 baseball selections! Our early pick on the Texas Rangers went down in flames. They have a talented ball club, but their bullpen has been suspect at times this season.

Thankfully, our 2 other picks came through last night. The Braves destroyed the Marlins behind 2 homers from Marcell Ozuna. The Mariners got some extra innings magic from Eugenio Suarez, who crushed a 3-run bomb to knock off the A's.

Let's stay hot with 2 MLB Best Bets for Thursday, May 4. Both of these are day games, so make sure to get your bets in early. Good luck with your action!

Best Bet: Tigers +1.5 (-110)

This is the free game on MLB.com, and it should be fun to watch with Justin Verlander making his return to Detroit. The Mets definitely need a spark, as they've only won 2 of their last 10 games. It'll be interesting to see if New York's slumping lineup can get things going.

Trying to bust out of a slump against Tigers starter Eduardo Rodriguez may prove to be a tall order. E-Rod has been dominant this season, and he's in excellent current form. Over his last 3 starts, Rodriguez is 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA and a WHIP of only 0.53! That's some serious dealing!

We know that Verlander is a beast, and he'll end up being a first-ballot Hall of Famer one day. However, we're thinking he may have a hard time focusing on his season debut for his new team. We like the Tigers to win the game, but we'll take the run line as some added insurance.

Best Bet: White Sox F5 +0.5 (-125)

We don't like taking a ton of first-five wagers, but we just can't trust the White Sox bullpen. However, we love the current form that Lucas Giolioto is in. He's 1-1 with a 2.75 ERA and a 0.81 WHIP over his last 3 starts. Giolito's breaking pitches have a lot more bite on them these days, so hopefully that'll keep the Twins hitters off balance.

Chicago's yearly metrics are terrible, but they've won 3 in a row and look like they may be turning things around. They're offense has a little more punch now that Tim Anderson is back. Andrew Vaughn is also heating up, as he's got 10 hits in his last 10 games.

Another thing we like here is the poor current form of Minny starter Pablo Lopez. His yearly numbers are decent, but he's got a 7.31 ERA and a WHIP of 1.69 over his last 3 starts. Let's ride the White Sox in this one in the first five innings!
