We split a pair of baseball selections yesterday, but it's been a solid week so far. The Twins handed the Brewers their sixth loss in a row, which was a great way to start the day. Milwaukee just isn't a good ballclub, in our opinion.
Unfortunately, the Yankees bullpen let us down in extra innings to keep us from sweeping another card. That runs our yearly total to 63-49. Oh well, the grind continues!
It's time to get back in the winner's circle with 2 MLB Best Bets for Thursday, June 15. Let's ride! Good luck with all of your action on the diamond today.
We aren't crazy about this price, but Marcus Stroman has been pitching out of his mind lately. The veteran righty is 3-0 with an ERA of only 0.83 over his last 3 starts. Stroman also ranks in the 93rd percentile in barrel rate, so hitters have had a hard time squaring up his pitches.
Pittsburgh has had a nice season to this point, but we still think there's some negative regression coming their way. The Pirates are just 1-7 against the Cubbies in their last 8 games. They also blew a big lead to Chicago last night after being blown out in Game 1 of the series on Tuesday.
Both of these teams have similar offenses and bullpens, but we think Dansby Swanson or Patrick Wisdom will come up big tonight. Cubbies will get the sweep! Lay the big price!
Cleveland is a solid ballclub and they have the starting pitcher edge in this one. The problem is that the Guardians can't hit a lick. They rank dead last in home runs and just 28th in OPS and runs per game. Cleveland has only scored 3 runs in their last 2 games.
The Guardians also struggle against lefties, with a batting average of only .233, a runs scored per 9 rate of 3.37, and a homer rate of only 0.3. The Padres against lefties are batting .250 with 4.44 runs and a homer rate of 0.6.
Even with their slow start, we still have the Padres as the 7th best team in baseball. Fernando Tatis, Manny Machado, and Juan Soto are finally starting to hit. Let's play San Diego to complete the sweep at home tonight.
