3 MLB Best Bets for Monday, May 22

After a disappointing 1-2 Friday, we're now 42-36 with our baseball selections. The Phillies got blown out by the Cubs and the Twins blew a late lead against the Angels. Thankfully, the Yankees didn't have any trouble with the Reds to save us from the dreaded golden sombrero.

Let's get back to winning with 3 MLB Best Bets for Monday, May 22. Good luck with all of your plays today! Let's start the week off right!

Best Bet: Rangers (-126)

Why the heck is this line so cheap? I guess we're getting a bargain because of Pittsburgh's fast start to the season. However, the P'Rats have come back down to earth by only winning 3 of their last 10 ball games. We love how scrappy some of the Pirates youngsters are, but the Rangers are superior to them in almost every meaningful statistical category.

Texas will send Dane Dunning to the hill today, and he's been phenomenal with a 4-0 record, an ERA of 1.69, and a WHIP of only 0.88. Dunning should do just fine against this Pittsburgh lineup tonight. The Pirates will counter with Luis Ortiz, who is 0-2 with a 5.63 ERA and a WHIP of 2.38. Anytime a pitcher's WHIP is that high, it means he's really struggling with his command.

This Rangers lineup continues to crush the ball, which is the main reason we have to play on them at this cheap of a price. Texas is averaging 6.32 runs per 9 innings against right-handers. Pittsburgh is only averaging 4.12 per 9 innings against righties. Adolis Garcia leads Texas with 14 home runs and 49 RBI, and we're looking for a big performance from him tonight.

Best Bet: Tigers (+103)

I know Kansas City is at home, but should they really be the favorite in this spot? Brady Singer has been riding the struggle bus all season long. The young right-hander has some potential, but he walks way too many hitters and leaves pitches out over the plate on a consistent basis.

To say Singer's numbers are rough would be an understatement. His ERA is 7.09 and his WHIP is at 1.53. As poorly as Detroit's lineup has performed this season, they shouldn't have any trouble roughing up Singer.

The Tigers will send Michael Lorenzen to the mound, and he's had a great start to 2023. The 31-year-old is also in great current form. He's 2-1 over his last 3 starts with a 0.90 ERA and WHIP. That's doing some serious pitching! Let's play the Motor City Kitties tonight!
