The College Football Semifinals are officially here, and we have two incredible matchups leading up to the National Championship on January 19th. There were some stinkers in the quarterfinals by way of blowouts, but we’re confident that this week’s action is going to provide a lot of entertainment and excitement.
We’ve got you covered with Underdog player props from both games, starting with Thursday night’s battle between Miami and Ole Miss. Miami is a 3.5-point favorite, which is effectively a pick-em in this format. We’re looking forward to this one, so let’s get into our top picks!
Trinidad Chambliss OVER 263.5 Passing Yards
There’s no way to describe Trinidad Chambliss’ performance against Georgia last week as anything other than spectacular. He was brilliant in the must-win game, throwing for 362 yards and two touchdowns.
While we’re not necessarily expecting a performance of that caliber in this one, it’s perfectly reasonable to think that he can have at least 264 yards to hit the over on his passing yardage prop.
Miami’s defense did allow less than 210 yards per game during the regular season, which might give some people pause on Chambliss, but we can’t fade him, considering how hot he is at the moment.
Carson Beck OVER 235.5 Passing Yards
We’re taking the overs on both quarterbacks in this matchup. Carson Beck is coming off a game where he had under 150 passing yards, but that was against Ohio State, which has one of the best passing defenses in recent memory.
Ole Miss’ passing defense is still strong, but not strong enough for Beck to have less than 236 passing yards. We’re thinking this is going to be an all-out air attack of a game, causing both quarterbacks to throw the ball a lot.
Plus, with Beck’s experience in mind, he’s played in enough games to outsmart his opponents to put up strong numbers.
Malachi Toney OVER 58.5 Receiving Yards
We knew we wanted to take one of Beck’s pass-catchers here, and it made the most sense to go with his No. 1 receiver of the year. Not only does Malachi Toney have the most receptions of anyone in this offense, but he has 45 more than the next-closest player.
Beck trusts him with the ball in his hands, and in the most important game of the year, look for him to go Toney’s way a lot.
