4.8ProphetX is a sports-focused prediction market built for users who want more control over pricing than a traditional sportsbook provides. Instead of betting against a house that posts the odds, ProphetX allows market participants to trade sports event contracts directly with one another through an exchange-style order book.
That sounds more complicated than it actually feels in practice. ProphetX covers familiar sports and markets, lets you take an available price or submit your own, and allows positions to be traded again before an event settles when sufficient liquidity is available.
New users can also take advantage of our current ProphetX offer: trade at least $10 and receive $20 in promotional credit with promo code EWB.
What Is ProphetX?
ProphetX is a federally regulated prediction market and sports exchange operated by ProphetX LLC. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission designated ProphetX as a Designated Contract Market in June 2026, allowing the company to operate a regulated electronic marketplace for event contracts.
ProphetX differs from a conventional sportsbook because the platform itself does not take the opposite side of your trade. Instead, buyers and sellers interact through an electronic marketplace, with prices determined by what participants are willing to buy and sell contracts for.
ProphetX describes itself as “the order book of sports,” and that is a pretty accurate summary of the product. The platform is designed primarily around sports rather than politics, economics or entertainment markets, making it one of the easier prediction exchanges for sportsbook users to understand.
How ProphetX Works
ProphetX uses a fully collateralized peer-to-peer trading model. Before a trade can execute, users must have enough money in their account to cover the maximum possible loss on the position.
Trades are matched through an electronic central limit order book. You essentially have two choices when entering a market:
- Take the current price: Accept liquidity already available from another market participant and execute the trade immediately when sufficient volume is available.
- Set your own price: Submit a limit order at the price you are willing to trade and wait for another user to accept the opposite side.
The ability to set your own price is one of ProphetX’s most important advantages over a sportsbook. If you do not like the current number, you are not forced to accept it. You can post a better price and see whether the market eventually comes to you.
The tradeoff is that limit orders are not guaranteed to fill. A position can be fully matched, partially filled or remain completely unmatched depending on available liquidity and how competitive your requested price is.
ProphetX Sports and Markets
ProphetX is unapologetically sports-first. Rather than trying to offer a contract on every news headline or political event, the platform concentrates on the categories most familiar to sports bettors.
Current coverage includes major U.S. sports and several international competitions, including:
- Professional football
- College football
- Professional basketball
- College basketball
- Professional baseball
- Professional hockey
- Soccer
- Golf
- Tennis
- MMA
Market availability changes throughout the year, but ProphetX generally concentrates its deepest liquidity around major U.S. leagues and high-profile events.
ProphetX Football Markets
Football is one of ProphetX’s strongest categories and should feel very familiar to anyone coming from an online sportsbook.
Available football contracts can include:
- Game winners
- Point spreads
- Game totals
- Player markets
- Season win totals
- Playoff qualification
- Division and conference futures
- Championship futures
ProphetX also offers live in-game sports markets, giving users the ability to enter, exit or adjust positions as prices move during an event.
ProphetX Pricing and the Order Book
The order book is what separates ProphetX from the typical sportsbook experience.
At a sportsbook, the operator determines the line and the associated price. You can accept it or look elsewhere. On ProphetX, prices emerge from orders posted by market participants.
You can also see available liquidity at different price points. That matters for larger traders because the best advertised price may only have a limited amount of money available behind it.
For example, you might see an attractive price for a particular outcome but only enough liquidity to fill part of the position you want. You can either accept the available amount, submit an order for the remainder or choose a different price with more liquidity.
This creates a more transparent trading environment, but it also means liquidity deserves more attention than it does at a traditional sportsbook.
Can You Set Your Own Price on ProphetX?
Yes, and this is one of our favorite ProphetX features.
Rather than automatically taking the price displayed at the top of the market, users can submit a limit order at their preferred price. The order remains available for another participant to match as long as the market stays open or until you cancel it.
Experienced sports bettors should immediately understand the appeal. A few cents or a few points of price improvement may not seem dramatic on an individual trade, but consistently getting better numbers can make a significant difference over a large volume of transactions.
ProphetX Live Trading
ProphetX supports live sports trading in addition to pregame markets.
Prices can move rapidly as the underlying game changes, creating opportunities to enter new positions or trade out of existing ones. Because ProphetX is peer-to-peer, however, the ability to execute always depends on another market participant being willing to trade at the available price.
That makes liquidity especially important during live events. Major football, basketball and baseball games will generally provide a better trading experience than obscure or lower-volume markets.
Can You Cash Out on ProphetX?
ProphetX does not need to offer a traditional sportsbook-style Cash Out button for you to exit many positions early. Instead, you can trade the opposite side of your existing position while the market remains open.
If there is sufficient liquidity, this lets you reduce your exposure, lock in a gain or take a loss before the underlying event reaches settlement.
This is fundamentally different from sportsbook cash out, where the operator decides whether to make an offer and determines the price. On an exchange, the exit price is based on what other market participants are willing to trade.
ProphetX Fees
ProphetX uses trading fees instead of the conventional sportsbook model of building a house margin directly into every set of odds.
Straight trades currently carry a 2% trading fee on net gains per market.
That means the fee applies when you finish a market with a profit rather than being charged against the total amount you trade.
For example, if you generate $100 in net gains on a straight-trade market, a 2% fee would equal $2. A losing position does not generate a separate 2% trading charge because there is no net gain on which to calculate the fee.
Parlay contracts use a different fee structure. Under ProphetX’s current fee schedule, a fee is charged to the taker — the user whose order executes against existing resting liquidity. Maker orders that are subsequently filled by another incoming order do not carry the parlay trade fee.
The exact parlay fee varies based on the implied probability of the contract price and the number of contracts being traded, with a minimum fee of $0.01 per qualifying order.
This is worth highlighting because ProphetX’s fee schedule has changed over time. Users should always review the fee shown for a specific transaction rather than relying on older references to fee-free parlay trading.
ProphetX Parlays
ProphetX supports multi-leg sports positions in addition to individual event contracts.
That makes the platform particularly familiar for sportsbook users who regularly build parlays, although the mechanics and fee structure are different from simply placing a conventional sportsbook parlay.
As with any multi-leg position, every included outcome generally needs to resolve successfully for the contract to pay according to its terms. Pricing is reflected through the contract market rather than a sportsbook’s traditional parlay payout table.
ProphetX App and User Experience
ProphetX feels more like a sports trading platform than a generic prediction market, and we consider that a strength.
Users who simply want to make a quick trade can take the best available price without spending much time studying the order book. More experienced users can look at available liquidity, submit limit orders and actively manage positions.
The interface also benefits from ProphetX’s narrow focus. Sports are the primary product rather than one category buried between elections, economic indicators and pop-culture contracts.
That makes ProphetX one of the easier platforms to recommend to someone who already understands sports betting but is trying prediction markets for the first time.
ProphetX Deposits
ProphetX currently supports multiple account-funding methods, including online banking and other approved electronic payment options.
Available deposit methods can vary by user and jurisdiction. Current options have included:
- Online bank transfers
- Cryptocurrency funding through supported payment partners
- Wire transfers
Users should check the cashier for the payment methods currently available on their account before initiating a transaction.
The account or payment method used to fund ProphetX generally needs to belong to the registered account holder as part of the platform’s identity and anti-money-laundering requirements.
ProphetX Withdrawals
ProphetX supports withdrawals to approved payment methods after funds become eligible for withdrawal.
Current options can include bank transfers, paper checks and wire transfers, although availability and processing time vary by method.
As with most regulated financial platforms, some withdrawals may trigger additional identity or account-ownership verification, particularly larger wire transactions.
Is ProphetX Legal?
ProphetX operates as a federally regulated prediction market rather than as a state-licensed sportsbook.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission officially designated ProphetX LLC as a Designated Contract Market on June 11, 2026.
The exchange operates through a fully collateralized trading model, meaning participants must fund the maximum possible loss on a contract before the trade can execute.
ProphetX also states that participant balances are held in segregated accounts rather than being combined with the company’s general operating funds.
Where Is ProphetX Available?
ProphetX describes its current sports prediction exchange as available nationwide where permitted, and the platform is accessible in most U.S. jurisdictions.
Because prediction-market availability is changing quickly and restrictions can differ by state, users should confirm eligibility through ProphetX at the time they create or access their account.
Your physical location can also affect whether trading is permitted, so being a resident of an eligible state does not necessarily mean you can trade while temporarily located somewhere ProphetX restricts.
How Old Do You Have to Be to Use ProphetX?
ProphetX currently requires individual participants to be at least 18 years old and at least the age of majority in their jurisdiction.
This differs from many state-regulated sportsbooks, which generally require users to be 21 or older.
ProphetX Identity Verification
ProphetX operates under federal financial-market rules and must complete identity, anti-money-laundering and sanctions checks on participants.
New users should expect to provide identifying information and may be asked for additional documentation if ProphetX cannot automatically verify the information supplied during registration.
Payment accounts used for deposits and withdrawals also generally need to be held in the participant’s own name.
ProphetX Promo Code EWB
Eligible new users can use our current ProphetX promo code EWB to access the platform’s Trade $10, Get $20 introductory offer.
After opening a qualifying new account, complete a first eligible trade of at least $10. ProphetX then awards $20 in promotional credit, typically within 24 hours after the qualifying trade.
The promotional credit itself is not unrestricted withdrawable cash, but the current offer does not carry an additional multi-stage rollover requirement.
ProphetX Pros and Cons
What We Like About ProphetX
- Built specifically for sports: The platform feels much more familiar to sportsbook users than broad prediction markets dominated by politics and news.
- Set your own price: Limit orders let users seek better pricing rather than automatically accepting what is displayed.
- Transparent order book: Traders can see available pricing and liquidity before entering a position.
- Live markets: ProphetX supports trading before and during major sporting events.
- Early position management: Users can trade out of positions when sufficient opposing liquidity is available.
- Fees based on gains: Straight-trade fees apply to net gains rather than the full amount invested.
- Federally regulated: ProphetX is a CFTC-designated contract market.
- Strong signup offer: A qualifying $10 first trade earns $20 in promotional credit for eligible new users.
Where ProphetX Could Improve
- Liquidity varies by market: Major sports tend to provide deeper markets than niche events.
- Exchange mechanics require some adjustment: New users need to understand concepts such as limit orders, liquidity, makers and takers.
- Straight trades carry a fee: ProphetX currently charges 2% of net gains per straight-trade market.
- Parlay fees are less simple than before: Current parlay pricing uses a variable taker-fee formula rather than a single flat percentage.
- Your desired price may not fill: A limit order only executes if another participant is willing to take the opposite side.
ProphetX vs. a Traditional Sportsbook
ProphetX offers many of the same sports opinions you would express at a sportsbook, but the transaction itself works differently.
A sportsbook controls its betting menu and decides what odds it is willing to offer. ProphetX provides the marketplace while participants create the prices through their buy and sell orders.
This gives traders more control. If the current price does not appeal to you, you can submit your own order instead of simply accepting the posted number.
The exchange model can also be more transparent because you can see available liquidity and understand how much money can actually be traded at a particular price.
The disadvantage is execution risk. A sportsbook generally accepts an approved wager immediately, while an aggressively priced ProphetX order may sit in the market without ever finding a match.
ProphetX vs. Novig
ProphetX and Novig are among the most direct competitors in the sports-first prediction market category.
Both use peer-to-peer exchange models, offer familiar sportsbook-style markets and allow users to submit their own prices rather than simply accepting a house line.
The biggest differences currently come down to pricing structure, interface and liquidity in individual markets. Novig offers fee-free pregame straight trading under its current schedule, while ProphetX charges 2% of net gains on straight markets.
ProphetX, however, has a particularly trading-oriented interface and strong order-book functionality that experienced exchange users may prefer.
We recommend comparing the actual price available on both platforms before trading. A nominally lower fee is not automatically the better deal if another exchange is offering a meaningfully better contract price.
Who Should Use ProphetX?
ProphetX is best suited to sports bettors who care about price and want more control over how their positions are entered and exited.
We particularly like it for experienced users who already shop sportsbook lines. If you routinely compare -105 against -110 or wait for a spread to move half a point before betting, the ability to post your own price should immediately make sense.
Beginners can still use ProphetX by simply accepting available market prices, but there is more value in the platform once you start taking advantage of its order book and limit-order tools.
Users primarily interested in elections, economics and entertainment markets will find more variety elsewhere. ProphetX’s strongest case is sports.
Our ProphetX Review: The Verdict
ProphetX is one of our favorite prediction markets for experienced sports bettors. It takes the sports and market types users already understand and adds something traditional sportsbooks cannot offer: direct participation in the pricing process.
The ability to post your own price, see liquidity and trade out of positions makes ProphetX feel closer to a true sports exchange than a sportsbook with prediction-market terminology layered on top.
Its current 2% straight-trade fee means you should still compare the complete price against Novig, Polymarket and other competitors rather than assuming the exchange model automatically gives you the best deal. But ProphetX provides enough pricing control and sports depth to deserve a place on that comparison list.
New users can also test the platform with a relatively low commitment by using ProphetX promo code EWB, making a qualifying $10 trade and receiving $20 in promotional credit.
