Tuesday night’s NHL board has plenty of ways to cash a ticket, and we are skipping the safe, boring stuff. Instead, we are mixing it up: an anytime goal scorer who loves feasting on Boston, a Dallas center with a reliable shot habit, and a defenseman with a prime power-play role on the road in Columbus. Grab a snack, because this slate has legs.
The Stars host the 7-2-0 Bruins at 8:00 p.m. ET, and the Maple Leafs visit the Blue Jackets at 7:00 p.m. ET. Three picks, three different prop types, and a few nice numbers backing each one. Always check your book before betting, since lines move all day.
Jason Robertson Anytime Goal (+145 FanDuel)
If there is one Star who has circled Boston on the calendar, it is Jason Robertson. He walks into Tuesday riding a seven-game point streak against the Bruins, piling up 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in that stretch, including multi-point outings in his last two meetings. Across nine career games against Boston he has 11 points and has hit the scoresheet in eight of them.
The current form is just as friendly. Robertson has 3 goals and 7 points through eight games this season on 26 shots, and he scored the game-winning power-play goal in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Chicago. He has found the scoresheet in five of the last six games, and he skates on the first power-play unit alongside Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz, Miro Heiskanen and Wyatt Johnston.
Dimers’ prop model projects Robertson as the single most likely anytime goal scorer on the whole game at 39.1%, which is well above the roughly 41% break-even that +145 implies. He has also scored in each of his last six Tuesday home games against Atlantic Division opponents. At +145, that is a fun price on a player who keeps finding the net.
Roope Hintz Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-184 FanDuel)
Hintz is back in the fold after a hand scare. He suffered the injury in the third period of Saturday’s win over Chicago, but he practiced Monday and is expected to be good to go against the Bruins. That is the key piece of news for this prop, so keep an eye on the lineup before puck drop.
The numbers behind the shot total are solid. Hintz has 3 goals and 2 assists in eight games this season and has averaged about two shots on goal a night, so 1.5 sits right on the edge of his normal output. He gets the minutes that feed shot volume, since he skates on the first power-play unit and lines up with Robertson at even strength. The price is steep at -184, so this one is about trusting his role more than chasing a fat payout.
Hintz also has a good history with Boston. He owns eight points in 11 career games against the Bruins with a plus-7 rating and enters this one on a four-game point streak against them. Dallas is 1-2-0 at home and wants to fix that, and its top center is the guy to lean on. If you are comparing prices across apps, a quick look at player prop search can save you a few cents of juice.
Darren Raddysh Over 0.5 Points (Dimers High Edge Pick)
Let’s head to Columbus for our third pick. Darren Raddysh is a Maple Leafs defenseman these days after his June sign-and-trade from Tampa Bay, and Dimers flags him as a High Edge pick to record a point against the Blue Jackets, with a 57.2% probability and a 3.3% edge at a best price of -117. Other books have it closer to -122, so shop around and check your book.
Raddysh is logging heavy minutes, averaging nearly 24 a night, and he runs on Toronto’s first power-play unit with Auston Matthews, Kirill Marchenko and William Nylander. He has four assists this season, two of them on the power play, plus 21 shots. He picked up an assist Monday in a 3-1 win over San Jose and has fired at least three shots in each of his last three games.
Toronto has struggled, and Columbus is the home side, favored at about -148 on the moneyline. But a 25-minute defenseman on the top power play is always in position for an assist, and last season in Tampa he produced 22 goals and 70 points. The offensive upside has not gone anywhere.
