3 NHL Best-of-the-Board Props to Back on October 17: DeBrincat, Thompson, Reinhart

Alex DeBrincat and Tage Thompson over 3.5 shots on goal plus a plus-money Sam Reinhart anytime goal make up Saturday’s best NHL props board.

Saturday night in the NHL is a buffet, and we are filling our plate with three players who are all but guaranteed to see the puck a lot. Alex DeBrincat in Detroit, Tage Thompson in Montreal and Sam Reinhart in Sunrise each have a prop that looks a little too friendly for the number on the screen.

We mixed the menu on purpose: two shots-on-goal overs and one anytime goal scorer at a plus-money price. Every line below was checked against posted odds, so you can shop around and grab the best number before puck drop.

Alex DeBrincat Over 3.5 Shots on Goal

DeBrincat is the kind of shooter who treats every power play like an open invitation. He has four goals and four assists through seven games for Detroit, and the shot volume has been loud: 4 on Thursday against Philadelphia, 6 against New Jersey, 7 in Montreal and 3 apiece in the two games before that. His 2026-27 average sits right around four per game, and he fired 287 shots on net last season while scoring 41 goals.

The matchup helps. San Jose arrives at Little Caesars Arena at 4-3 but fresh off a 6-3 loss to Boston earlier in the week, and Detroit is a modest favorite at roughly -135 to -142 on the moneyline. When the Red Wings control the game, the puck finds number 93 early and often. The over 3.5 is priced around -118 at the books we checked, which is a fair price for a player who has cleared that number in 4 of his last 7 games and is projected by shot models at roughly 3.7 on goal.

If you want to swing for a bigger number, DeBrincat to score anytime is sitting between +140 and +152 depending on the book, and he leads Detroit with four goals already. Check your book, because that range is wide enough to matter.

Tage Thompson Over 3.5 Shots on Goal

Thompson has quietly been one of the most relentless shooters in the league to start the year. He has cleared 3.5 shots in six of his last eight games, and his season average sits between 4.4 and 4.6 per game. The game log reads like a roller coaster, with a 9-shot explosion against Minnesota and three games of 6, mixed with back-to-back single-shot duds against Florida and Montreal. The floor is low, but the ceiling shows up often.

He is coming off six shots in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime win in Toronto, and Buffalo has been scoring at a healthy clip, averaging 3.4 goals per game over its last ten. Montreal is a slight home favorite, and the game total is 6.5 at about -110 on both sides, so this one is not expected to be a defensive grind. The over 3.5 is priced around +112, which means you are getting plus money on a player who has hit this number in a majority of his recent games.

Fair warning: Thompson has averaged only 2.3 shots against the Canadiens, including a single shot in the 4-3 shootout loss on Tuesday. That is part of the reason this prop pays plus money, and it is the reason to treat it as a confident play rather than a lock. Some models also give him around a 40 percent chance at a goal, and anytime goal prices of +140 to +155 look fair for a center with four goals already.

Sam Reinhart Anytime Goal Scorer

Reinhart started the season cold, with no points in his first five games, and then woke up in a big way. He scored twice, including a power-play goal, in a 7-3 win at Columbus on Tuesday, and two more in Buffalo the day before that. That is four goals in his last two games and three points in the Columbus win alone. He added an assist and five shots in Friday’s 3-2 overtime win over Vancouver, so the shot volume did not disappear when the goals did.

Seattle is the opponent at Amerant Bank Arena, and the Panthers are heavy favorites at about -182 to -192 on the moneyline with the total set at 6.0. Reinhart has taken 24 shots in seven games and is playing just over 21 minutes a night. At +155 to score anytime, the implied probability is about 39 percent, and the models we checked have him between roughly 39 and 42 percent. That is about as close to a fair price as you will find, which keeps the plus-money number attractive.

Shopping a few apps before you place this one pays off, since goal-scorer prices can drift several points between books. If you are new to the idea, our guide on how betting odds work breaks down what +155 actually means for your payout.

Lock These In

Three players, three different paths to a winning ticket. DeBrincat and Thompson ask only that they keep doing what they have been doing, which is firing the puck at the net, and Reinhart gives you plus money on a player who has been scoring in bunches.
