The NBA Summer League circus rolls on at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on Monday night, with the Dallas Mavericks facing the Memphis Grizzlies at 7:00 PM ET. This is Summer League basketball, so both rosters are stocked with rookies, two-way hopefuls and young players still fighting for a foothold in the league rather than the stars fans see during the regular season. Dallas arrives looking for its first win of the week, while Memphis has already turned heads behind its rookie big man.
How the Betting Markets See This One
Prediction markets have leaned heavily toward Memphis this week, with Polymarket pricing the Grizzlies as sizable favorites over Dallas earlier in the slate. Bettors following the Summer League circuit have also flagged this as a spot to back Memphis on the moneyline, pointing to the Grizzlies’ deeper collection of draft capital and their perfect record so far in Las Vegas as reasons to expect them to take care of business.
Dallas, on the other hand, comes in as an inexpensive dog on paper after dropping its first two games of the week, and Summer League markets tend to be thin and reactive to whichever prospects are drawing buzz, which has clearly favored Memphis after its performance against Chicago. Boozer’s Grizzlies Riding Momentum, Mavericks Searching for Answers
Memphis has been the story of the week in Las Vegas thanks to No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer, who has been one of the most productive players in the entire Summer League field. Boozer put up 23 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 97-96 win over the Chicago Bulls on Friday, going toe-to-toe with No. 4 overall pick Caleb Wilson, who dropped 35 points for Chicago in a losing effort. Boozer got help in that win from Cedric Coward, who nearly posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Javon Small, who added 15 points off a strong all-around Grizzlies rotation. That victory pushed Memphis to 1-0 in the Las Vegas portion of Summer League after the Grizzlies went 1-2 in the earlier Salt Lake City session, where Boozer, Taylor Hendricks and Olivier-Maxence Prosper each scored in double figures in a lopsided win over Oklahoma City before Memphis rested several regulars in a loss to Atlanta.
Dallas has had a rockier week. The Mavericks opened Summer League with a 101-90 loss to Golden State before falling again, 91-70, to the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, a game in which Arthur Kaluma poured in a game-high 34 points for L.A. Ryan Nembhard has been Dallas’ most consistent contributor through two games, finishing with 12 points and five assists against the Lakers, while No. 9 overall pick Morez Johnson Jr. chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and four blocks despite foul trouble limiting his minutes. Tobi Lawal added eight points and five rebounds off the bench. The Mavericks’ roster also features guards John Poulakidas and Jaden Springer, along with draft picks Sergio De Larrea and Vsevolod Ishchenko, but none of Dallas’ young pieces have found a rhythm yet against tougher competition. The size and physicality gap could be a real factor here. Memphis’ frontcourt, featuring Boozer alongside Hendricks, Carson Cooper and Lawson Lovering, has consistently won the rebounding battle through its first three Summer League games, while Dallas has struggled to match that interior presence against both Golden State and Los Angeles. Unless the Mavericks find a way to slow down Boozer in the paint and get more consistent scoring outside of Nembhard, this profiles as another difficult night in Las Vegas. Boozer has already emerged as one of the top names to watch on our NBA champion futures board for years down the road, and his Summer League play is only adding to that buzz.
Prediction and Best Bet
Memphis enters this matchup with more continuity, a hotter recent form and the best individual talent on the floor in Boozer. Dallas has shown flashes from Nembhard and Johnson but hasn’t put together a complete 40 minutes yet this week. Expect the Grizzlies to control the pace and pull away in the second half.
Other Game Picks
- Prediction: Memphis Grizzlies 92, Dallas Mavericks 78
- Best Bet: Grizzlies on the moneyline
Memphis has the more experienced, more talented roster and has already proven it can win a tight game against elite rookie competition, making the Grizzlies moneyline the safer play in a Summer League matchup where the roster gap looks significant.
