Week 7 College Football Our 4 Best Bets for Saturday, October 12

We are BACK with another College Football best bets article and this has been going great all season! We have cashed 3 straight Friday games in a row, and I will have a Friday article out tomorrow morning!

This may be one of the better weeks in college football to date! We have key conference matchups all over the board and I cannot wait for this weekend to get started. I have a couple of top plays and a few bonus props at the end, so don’t miss those!

Iowa at Home Will Be Too Much

It's tough to fade this Washington Huskies team coming off an impressive Michigan win, and sitting at 4-2, but if there was a spot this one is a good one. The travel for this squad has been brutal over the last two weeks and I think it catches up to them here! Traveling to New Jersey, back home to Washington, then back out to Iowa is a lot to overcome.

Not just the travel, this game will be played at noon in Iowa, which sets Washington's body clock to 9 am. That is a brutal spot against an Iowa team that always plays physical on both sides of the ball, can stop the running game, and now has a powerful rushing attack to wear out the defense.

Washington allows 130.5 rushing yards per game, and I believe that is where Iowa will hang their hat. Kaleb Johnson has been a man on a mission for Iowa, currently #2 in the nation in rushing yards and #3 in rushing touchdowns. In two games against the conference this season he averages 8.1 yards per carry, and I don’t see that changing here.

Texas Establishes Its Dominance

Last season we saw Texas lose another thriller to Oklahoma 34-30 and now it's time for payback. Since 2010 Oklahoma has dominated this series going 11-4 over that time span. Things may be changing as Texas now has the #1 team in the nation, and poised to be an SEC powerhouse for years to come.

Now this may be a bit of a homer pick as I am a Longhorn fan through and through, but I won’t let that cloud my judgment. I understand how dangerous Oklahoma can be in this matchup and they have an elite defense with playmakers all over the field!

Oklahoma sits at #18 in the country in scoring defense allowing only 16 points per game, sitting at just 300 total yards of offense allowed. Having said that, what Oklahoma does well this season, Texas does better. Texas is ranked #2 in scoring defense, allowing 7 points per game and #2 in the country in total yards allowed per game at 212.

I always worry about the 2nd half in these matchups so I am taking a 1st half look in this game. I think we see a repeat of the 2022 and 2021 seasons that saw Texas obliterate Oklahoma in the 1st half to the tune of 28-0 and 38-20. Texas is ranked #2 in the country in the first half margin and I think that can be up by 10 come half time!

My Best Bets:

Texas 1st Half -7 (-126) DraftKings

Best Team Prop:
LSU TT u29.5 (-114) FanDuel

Best Player Prop:
