Week 13 Big Ten Preview: Predictions and 3 Best Bets for November 22

Week 13 Big Ten Preview Predictions and 3 Best Bets

Last week was as boring in the Big Ten as I expected. However, as each week inches us closer to the College Football playoff, we’re starting to see some real matchups hit our boards. I have to tell you, I couldn’t be happier. I love good, meaningful football. Late-season, high-ranked, inter-conference matchups are as good as it gets.

Well, Ohio State is as good as it gets, but since they’re playing Rutgers, we’re going to leave that layup off this list. Here are the matchups I’ll be watching this weekend and best bets for the matchups. Enjoy the games and best of luck!

(21) Illinois @ Wisconsin

Remember when Illinois was ranked Top Ten in the Country? As an Illinois fan, I always thought that was a typo. I love what Brett Bielema has done with this team. Luke Altmyer has put together a pretty solid season for himself at QB, and the Illini average 32.2 PPG, while giving up 23.9 with the 14th hardest schedule in College Football.

You’d think that screams over at 41. Hold that thought. Wisconsin is the SECOND-WORST scoring team in college football, averaging only 12 points per game. There isn’t much else to say about the Badgers.

They’ve been flat-out bad. Ok, we held the thought. GIVE ME POINTS! I think Illinois will eclipse its point total of 32, and they always somehow manage to give up ten points.

(15) USC @ (7) Oregon

This is easily the game of the week in the Big Ten and perhaps all of College Football. USC is coming off a five-point win at home last week against Iowa and is trying to break into that conversation for the College Football Playoff. Oregon is playing for, what could be, a first-round bye in the CFP and a shot at the Big Ten title game.

Being a 9.5-point favorite at home against the 15th-ranked team in the country shouldn’t shock anyone. The Ducks are 7th in the country in PPG with 39, 6th in the country in Points Against with 13.7, and their kicking game is top-notch.

Dante Moore at QB is an improvement over Dillon Gabriel, Noah Whittington averages 8.2 yards per attempt, and Kicker Atticus Sappington (who is their second leading scorer) is 80% for the season on kicks and hasn’t missed an XP yet. Plus, if you say his name in an English Accent, it’s so much better. I love the Ducks this weekend. Both with the points and in their run game.
