Pick a storyline. There are literally a dozen to choose from when the No. 11-ranked Tulane Green Wave (11-2) returns to Oxford, Mississippi, on Saturday to face the No. 6-ranked Ole Miss Rebels (11-1) at 3:30 p.m.
These two teams squared off earlier this year, resulting in a 45-10 drubbing by the Rebels. Yet the entire complexion of this college football playoff contest has changed since that September showdown.
For starters, both head coaches from the regular-season matchup have new jobs now. Tulane’s head man – future Florida coach Jon Sumrall – is still on the sidelines for his AAC championship squad. Ole Miss has a new head coach after Lane Kiffin bolted for LSU, and former defensive coordinator Pete Golding landed the promotion as the permanent coach.
Ole Miss will have several former offensive assistant coaches on the sideline for this game. Will that be enough to earn a second victory over Tulane? We’ll cover that and provide bettors with our top three player props for Saturday’s college football playoff game.
Ole Miss Rebels QB Trinidad Chambliss OVER 282.5 Passing Yards
Senior Trinidad Chambliss had an excellent final collegiate season. The 6-foot-1 signal-caller finished with 3,016 passing yards, 18 touchdowns, and three interceptions for the Rebels. He also notched 470 rushing yards on 118 carries, scoring six more times for Ole Miss this season.
His previous game against Tulane was arguably his best in 2025. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing 14 times for 112 yards against the Green Wave.
On Saturday, expect the AAC school to target Chambliss defensively. While they’ll potentially limit his running opportunities, expect the quarterback to carve us Tulane like he previously did. Take him to cover his passing prop bet on Saturday.
Ole Miss Rebels RB Kewan UNDER 126.5 Rushing Yards
The Rebels enjoyed a stellar season from workhorse running back Kewan Lacy. The 5-foot-11 sophomore finished the year with 258 carries, 1,279 rushing yards, and 20 touchdowns, stats that all rank among the top 10 nationally.
His previous game against Tulane was a ho-hum affair. The Rebel runner earned 18 carries for 68 yards, finishing his day early in the blowout. Expect a repeat performance on Saturday because the Green Wave’s secondary has been carved up in multiple games. Ole Miss will use Chambliss’ passing ability to move the ball, keeping Lacy from covering his prop bet total.
Tulane Green Wave WR Shazz Preston OVER 37.5 Receiving Yards
Junior Shazz Preston was Tulane’s top target in every receiving category this season. The wide receiver notched 38 receptions for 598 yards and four scores, providing quarterback Jake Retzlaff with a reliable target in 2025.
Preston will need a stronger showing on Saturday for the Green Wave to win this game. In his first outing, he caught only three passes for 35 yards. Expect Tulane to find creative ways to free him up downfield, and Preston will cover his receiving yards prop bet total.
Best Bet: OVER 57.5 Points
There’s a case to make for Tulane to pull off the upset. For starters, it’s the first time anyone will see Golding’s ability to be a head football coach. And the offensive staff at Ole Miss isn’t tethered to the Rebels, either. It’s a recipe for a playoff meltdown.
Yet it’s hard to believe that the Green Wave will pull off the shocker. Instead, the better line to target is the total points. While 57.5 points is a lot for both teams to cover, bettors should expect this game to be a stronger showing by the Green Wave’s offense. Plus, Golding’s focus will shift from the defense to the entire product. That’s why these two teams will cover the points total.
