The top spot in the Big 12 Conference is up for grabs when the No. 17-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-0) head west to take on the No. 16-ranked Utah Utes (3-0) for FOX Sports’ Saturday noon showcase event. The Red Raiders have been a highly discussed program after spending freely during the offseason. Texas Tech’s roster is loaded, and they’ve defeated their first three opponents by a combined 172-35 score.
Utah has also been dominant in 2025. The Utes handily defeated UCLA 43-10 before winning their next two contests by a combined score of 94-15. The winner of this game will be among the highest-ranked Big 12 teams next week, joining the No. 12-ranked Iowa State Cyclones.
Will it be the Red Raiders or the Utes claiming that spot? We’ll cover that and provide bettors with our three best prop wagers for Saturday’s game.
Utah Utes QB Devon Dampier OVER 66.5 Rushing Yards
Junior quarterback Devon Dampier is off to another strong start this season. After finishing with more than 3,900 yards at New Mexico last season, Dampier is already above 800 total offensive yards this season.
Outside of his team’s 63-9 beatdown of Cal Poly, the signal-caller has rushed at least 13 times per game for 86 or more yards. It’s a safe bet he’ll continue using his feet against the Texas Tech defense, suggesting bettors should take the over on this player prop wager.
Texas Tech Red Raiders QB Behren Morton OVER 260.5 Passing Yards
Senior signal-caller Behren Morton has a contrasting playing style compared to his counterpart. The 6-foot-2 quarterback has passed for 923 yards on the young season, completing 70.4 percent of his passes. He’s also thrown 11 touchdowns against a lone pick thus far.
His numbers could be even more impressive had the Red Raiders played stronger competition. Against Oregon State, Morton threw for 464 yards, completing 65.7 percent of his passes. It’s safe to assume Texas Tech will need him to be over 300 yards on Saturday to win this game, making him a strong bet to cover this passing prop wager.
Utah Utes WR Ryan Davis OVER 58.5 Receiving Yards
Utes wide receiver Ryan Davis took the circuitous route to Utah. He’s in his sixth season playing college football, having previously played with UAB and New Mexico. His best season came in 2025 when the then-Lobo caught 54 passes for 747 yards and three touchdowns.
He may have found his stride against Wyoming last week. The senior caught 10 passes for 91 yards, doubling both the catches and receiving yards of any other Ute receiver. Expect him to finish with at least six catches for 60 yards in Saturday’s game, covering this player prop bet.
Best Bet: Texas Tech (+2.5)
In three games, these two teams are scoring 103 combined points per outing. Defensively, they’re allowing a combined 10 points per game to their opponents. Something has to give, and predicting the total points in this contest is a huge leap of faith.
Odds are high that their fantastic offenses will be slowed drastically when facing each other’s defense, but there are no data points to back that up. In a grind-it-out contest, Utah is historically the better team in that style of game.
Still, Texas Tech is the team bettors should take to win this contest. The Red Raiders have too many weapons offensively, and the defense is extremely capable of being a top-10 unit this season. They’ll cover their 2.5-point spread on Saturday en route to winning this game.
