Best Bet NC State vs Wake Forest UNDER 54

The Wolfpack is 2-0 to start the season after victories over East Carolina and Virginia. The 24-17 victory over East Carolina was a loser against the nearly 2-touchdown spread. Despite holding the Pirates to just 30 rushing yards, they had a tough time keeping Katin Houser under control through the air as he finished with 366 yards passing and a touchdown.

They bounced back against the spread against Virginia last week. The 35-31 win covered the short field goal line. Virginia was able to find success on the ground with over 250 rushing yards and nearly the same through the air. However, the Wolfpack offense was strong and finished with over 200 yards on the ground themselves and used a 21-0 3rd quarter to take what came to be an insurmountable lead.

Wake has also started 2-0 through week 2 but did so in a much different fashion. After narrowly escaping an upset loss to Kennesaw St in week 1 (10-9), they demolished Western Carolina last week, 42-10. The ability to establish their strong rushing attack in game 2 was the difference in the outcomes. Against Kennesaw St, they finished with 130, whereas against Western Carolina, they racked up almost 275 on the ground. In both games, the defense handled its business, and that is going to need to be the case for them to protect their home field this Thursday.

NCST has certainly played tougher opponents than Wake to this point in the season. That said, Wake should be eager to face a higher-level opponent, especially after finding their stride last week. Looking at both offenses combining for 77 total points last week, we believe that will be flipped here on the short practice time this week for both squads. The defenses should be able to hold each other in check. And if they are to have success, it will likely be on the ground where we could see some longer drives that will help with the under here.
