The SEC’s premier contest on Saturday features a pair of teams from the old Big 8 Conference. The No. 22-ranked Missouri Tigers (7-3, 3-3 SEC) head to Norman to face the No. 8-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (8-2, 4-2 SEC) in a must-watch matchup.
Missouri’s playoff dreams have been derailed during SEC play. The Tigers lost single-score games to Alabama and Vanderbilt in October before dropping a 38-17 decision to Texas A&M to start November.
Oklahoma’s hopes of a playoff bid were greatly increased with its surprising victory last week over Alabama. It was their third straight matchup against a ranked opponent, and the Sooners are 2-1 in those games.
Can Oklahoma win a third straight contest against a ranked opponent on Saturday? We’ll cover that and provide bettors with our top three player props for this mega SEC matchup.
Oklahoma Sooners QB John Mateer UNDER 217.5 Passing Yards
What might have been? It’s a question that fans will be asking had junior quarterback John Mateer not suffered an injury to his hand earlier this season. Since that September incident, he’s struggled against SEC competition.
The 6-foot-1 signal-caller has completed over 63 percent of his passes this season for 2,087 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven picks. He’s thrown for over 200 yards only twice in his past five outings, and only once has he surpassed his 217.5-yard prop total since September.
Opponents have had much success against Missouri, either. Only Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed has thrown for more than 220 yards against the Tigers during the last month. These two reasons make a compelling argument that Mateer will fail to reach his prop total on Saturday.
Missouri Tigers WR Kevin Coleman Jr. OVER 34.5 Receiving Yards
Missouri’s athletic department has cleared quarterback Beau Pribula to play on Saturday. That’s good news for wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. The senior wideout has caught 56 passes for 600 yards and one score this season, primarily with Pribula under center.
If Oklahoma has a weakness defensively, it’s in the secondary. The Sooners have surrendered over 300 passing yards in three straight contests. Regardless of who is leading the Tigers’ offense, Coleman is the unquestioned top target. Bettors should take the over on his receiving prop wager.
Missouri Tigers RB Ahmad Hardy UNDER 102.5 Rushing Yards
If you haven’t watched Missouri this season, the Tigers are a run-first offense. That’s one reason sophomore running back Ahmad Hardy has such big numbers this season. The 5-foot-10 runner has 1,346 rushing yards on 197 carries, scoring 15 times on the ground for the Tigers in 2025.
He’ll face one of the league’s best offenses on Saturday. The Sooners haven’t allowed a running back more than 78 yards in their past three outings. That’s why bettors should take the under for Hardy’s rushing prop total on Saturday.
Best Bet: Oklahoma (-7)
Let me be clear: I’m not an Oklahoma fan. Less than a month ago, I thought the Sooners would roll over and play dead in this stretch run to finish the season. Victories over Tennessee and Alabama were improbable at best.
But the Sooners looked legit in those victories. Their defense is among the best in the country, especially their defensive front four. Bettors should also believe in Oklahoma. Take the Sooners to cover the 7-point spread on Saturday against the Tigers.
