Iowa vs Rutgers Predictions: 3 Player Props for Friday, September 19

The NFL season is off and running, meaning that football fans have a chance to watch meaningful games most days of the week, between that and college. The Saturday slate of college football this weekend is, of course, filled with a lot of exciting matchups, but what about people who want something to tune into on Friday night?

Thankfully, the college football schedulers have you covered, as there are two games taking place, including the battle between Iowa and Rutgers. We’re excited to tune in ourselves, and to make it a bit more interesting, we’re dialing up our favorite player props from Underdog to play along with the action. Let’s get into it!

Athan Kaliakmanis OVER 208.5 Passing Yards

This line feels a bit too low for Kaliakmanis, who has had at least 252 yards in his three starts this season. He had a 309-yard passing performance last week, and we just don’t think Iowa’s defense is going to slow him enough to have less than 210 yards.

Rutgers’ offense looks a lot better than it has in some time, and if Kaliakmanis can keep this momentum moving, there’s no telling what they’ll be able to accomplish down the stretch.

Jaziun Patterson UNDER 42.5 Rushing Yards

Iowa is known for having a ground-and-pound rushing attack, a strategy they’ve certainly employed to this point in 2025. However, they have something of a split backfield between junior Jaziun Patterson and freshman Xavier Williams, which makes it tough to predict who is going to have a great game every week.

To this point in the year, however, Williams has been the more efficient back, averaging 7.2 yards per carry to Patterson’s 5.8. We’re under the impression that Iowa is going to utilize Williams more and more moving forward, giving Patterson fewer opportunities to run the rock. That said, we’re taking the under on Patterson’s rushing line until he proves that he can be more efficient in this offense.

Mark Gronowski OVER .5 Rushing/Receiving Touchdowns

We don’t usually take touchdown props, but this one just felt right. Mark Gronowski has scored a rushing touchdown every week this season, and while past success isn’t necessarily an indication of what’s to come, we’re riding with him until further notice.

Plus, Rutgers has allowed a rushing touchdown to quarterbacks in two of their past three games, so it’s the perfect storm for Gronowski to get back into the endzone.
