Colorado Buffaloes vs Houston Cougars
The post Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders era started in losing fashion as Colorado dropped their opener 27-20 against visiting Georgia Tech. They had a chance to tie on a final drive, but the time management was abysmal, and the drive fell way short. In the loss, they allowed over 300 rushing yards and were held to just 159 yards through the air.
GT quarterback Haynes King had his way with both his arm and legs in that one. Against Delaware, the Buffaloes had an easier time stopping the run and held the Blue Hens to just 84 yards on the ground in the 31-7 victory. Both Kaidon Salter and Ryan Staub took snaps under center, with Staub looking the best of the two. Staub will likely be getting the bulk of the snaps going forward.
Houston is 2-0 after dominating wins over SF Austin (27-0) and Rice (35-9). In their latest win over Rice, it took some time before they could create some serious separation on the scoreboard. They led by just 4 at the half and needed a 28-6 second half to pull away. They used a strong run game to break down the Rice defense. Conner Weigman has looked strong in both starts and has thrown 4 touchdowns without an interception to this point.
Best Bet: Houston -5.5
While Ryan Staub looks to be the better and more stable option for Coach Prime and the Buffaloes, he is going to be in a very hostile environment in Houston this Friday night. While Houston has not played against any top-tier offenses, they should be able to contain this Colorado team that only looked decent against an inferior Delaware team.
We are backing the veteran QB, Weigman, to get the job done here at home. Let’s lay the points!

Kansas St Wildcats vs Arizona Wildcats
Kansas State has had an atrocious start to the season, while also being one of the teams to have played in Week 0. They are just 1-2 with losses to Iowa State and last week to Army. Their lone win was a 38-35 victory over North Dakota where they were favored by almost 4 touchdowns.
Avery Johnson has played decent under center through this tough stretch but the defense has seemingly allowed each opponent to have their way with whatever their strength has been. Iowa St is balanced and threw for 180 while rushing for 130. Army is always a run team and accumulated 237 of their 332 yards on the ground. If they are going to turn things around, it is going to need to start with their defense.
Arizona has outscored their opponents 88-9 in their 2 games this season. Noah Fifita has thrown for over 500 yards and 6 touchdowns to this point. On defense, they held Hawaii to just 67 yards on the ground and Weber St to just 68 yards through the air. Avery Johnson will test this defense on both aspects of the game. It may come down to if Fifita can outduel Johnson in this matchup.
Best Bet: Kansas State -2
With Arizona dominating opponents and Kansas State struggling, you would suspect the Wildcats to be decent favorites at home in this one. However, the oddsmakers have made this one nearly a pick. We believe that Avery Johnson and company will be able to take this game as a motivational game for the rest of the season.
We do not believe they are packing things in just yet. We expect the defense to be tougher here and expose Fifita’s numbers to be ballooned due to the weaker defenses that he has faced.
