Iowa State Cyclones OVER 7.5 Wins

We easily could have had his Cyclones team in the top tier of the conference. If the defense can get turned around, this team could be a sleeper to win the Big 12. They are coming off one of the best seasons in program history last year. They finished #15 in the polls after winning 11 games.
Rocco Becht is back to run the show behind center.

However, he has some new faces that he will be trying to throw his way to over 30ppg like he did last season. Xavier Townsend from UCF and Chase Sowell from East Carolina both came over to make up most of the receiving corps. Becht will have 3 starters returning on the line for him and a combo of Abu Sama and Carson Hansen will tote the rock in the backfield.

Jon Heacock saw his defensive unit stumble a bit last year. That said, injuries played a major factor. Most of his linebackers were banged up but should be healthy coming into the season. The d-line should be stable as well. It is the secondary that poses the biggest question for Heacock’s group.

Utah Utes UNDER 8.5 Wins

It was a year to forget about last season for the Utes. Not only was 5-7 not a good record, but they were slated as one of the top contenders for conference last year. Most of that lackluster season can be contributed to the injury of Cam Rising. The quarterback would have made a significant difference in how the season played out had he stayed healthy.

With Rising now gone, Kyle Whittingham looked to New Mexico’s offense for help. He nabbed QB Devon Dampier and his coordinator, Jason Beck, to sure up the Utes offense for this season. His offensive line should be a strength as they return a bulk of their starters but the receivers are filled with inexperience.

The defense stepped up last season with the offense struggling without Cam Rising. They held opponents to a tick over 20ppg and finished 2nd in the conference. This unit should be a strength again but the offense needs to take steps if they want to be successful in 2025-26.

Kansas Jayhawks OVER 6.5 Wins

Kansas had a very similar season to Iowa State last year. They had high expectations but fell short early and bounced back late in the season. They finished 4-2 in their final 6 games, which gave the faithful optimism heading into this year’s campaign.

Jalon Daniels will be the starter once again and hopes that the early season struggles from last year are fully behind him. To be fair, he was coming off an injury and maybe the rust was just too thick to shake in the 1st stretch of games. He will have some help in the backfield with Leshon Williams coming over from Iowa to run with Daniel Hishaw.

However, the offensive line only returns 2 starters and the receiver room is nearly barren. The hope that Bama transfer, Emmanuel Henderson, will become a star at wideout is the hope for many in Kansas. On defense, there are transfers filling holes at all 3 levels. They could be upgrades, but only time will tell.

TCU Horned Frogs OVER 6.5 Wins

It was a nice bounce back year for Sonny Dykes last season. The Frogs finished 9-4 after a 5-7 campaign the previous year. Many expected the fall off from a National Title run in 2022 but not many expected the quick bounce back last season.

The offense will still have solid weapons through the air. Josh Hoover is back at QB and wide out Eric McAlister could be one of the best in the conference. Joe Manjack IV comes in from Houston while Jordan Dwyer was scooped up from Idaho to round out the receiver room.

Questions linger on the line and in the backfield as they hope to improve from a sorry run game that averaged just under 4 yards per carry last season. The run game is also the story on the other side of the ball. The line and linebackers need to be better against the run. The secondary will be the strength with Bud Clark anchoring that group again in 2025-26.
