2 College Football Best Bets for Saturday, September 16

Week 3 of college football is here and we're ready to rock and roll. As we were studying this week's card, a couple of games caught our attention. One is an SEC West clash and the other is an interesting ACC vs. Big 10 matchup.

Check out our 2 best bets right here to start raking in some cold hard cash! Thanks as always for reading, and best of luck with all of your wagers on the gridiron.

Best Bet: LSU -9 over Mississippi State

The Tigers bounced back last week after getting dropped 45-24 in their opener against FSU. The were able to shake a rocky 1st quarter to go on and defeat Grambling 72-10. Jayden Daniels tossed 5 touchdowns without a pick.

Logan Diggs scampered for 115 yards and a touchdown while Kaleb Jackson scored twice on his 11 carries. Grambling committed 2 turnovers and committed 13 penalties for 104 yards. They were held to 157 yards through the air and just 3-12 on 3rd down.

Miss St remained undefeated as they handed Arizona a 31-24 loss. After leading 21-7 early in the 2nd half, they let Arizona scored back-to-back touchdowns and tie the game early in the 4th.

After a pair of FGs from each, Will Rogers hit Jeff Pittman for the overtime winning score. Jo’Quavious Marks led the way with 24 carries for 123 yards and a score. Lideatrick Griffin caught 5 balls for 83 and 2 touchdowns.

The Bulldogs were lucky to escape with an overtime win last week over Arizona. The Tigers have already tasted defeat and know they need to run the table to have a shot at a national title.

The Tigers defense will be the toughest the Arizona team will face this season. We believe the Tigers can go on the road and Miss St will be overpowered in this one.

Key Betting Trends for LSU at Mississippi State:

  • LSU is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games played in September.
  • LSU is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against Mississippi State.
  • Miss St is 1-10 SU in their last 11 games when playing at home against LSU.
  • Miss St is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games played on a Saturday.

Best Bet: Syracuse -2.5 over Purdue

The Orange defeated Colgate and then Western Michigan to begin the season 2-0. They will hit the road this week to take on the Boilermakers. Combined, Syracuse has defeated their opponents 113-7 after they handed Western Michigan a 48-7 loss.

Lequint Allen scored 3 times on just 8 carries and 20 yards. Garrett Shrader was consistent under center and will need to steady against this Boilermaker defense.

After losing a tough one to Fresno State in their opener, Purdue came back last week to beat Virginia Tech 24-17. With the game tied at 17-17 at the half, Hudson Card ran in a 2-yard touchdown with only 8 minutes remaining for what would eventually be the winning score.

Grant Wells was not himself as he completed only 48.5% of his passes and tossed 2 TDs to go with his 2 INTs and was sacked 3 times, which was a credit to the Purdue defense. They also held VT to 11 total rushing yards in the game.

Shrader is not Wells and will be able to carve up this Purdue defense. This line opened at Purdue -3.5 and his since flipped to -2.5 and making the Orange the favorite. Syracuse will continue to be consistent inside the redzone in this one and should have no real issued shutting down Hudson Card.

Key Betting Trends for Syracuse at Purdue:

  • Syracuse is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games played in September.
  • Syracuse is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games played in week 3.
  • Purdue is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games at home.
  • Purdue is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games.
